Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and the game in general. And I really want to create a Corsair army, but have no idea where to start. I was thinking a mixture between Harad and the Corsairs, but I don't know how well that would work. Anyways, any suggestions? Help would be very appreciated. :-D

Im pretty sure that those can only be used as allies atleast in WOTR they are so you might have to find a main force to use with them.
And welcome to the OR 8) Remember once you start,,,you never go back.....

Firstly, welcome to the One Ring! I hope that you enjoy your time here.

As for your question, I can't say for War of the Ring as I'm not a fan of the game and never did get into it properly, but the two armies are able to ally well with each other in the SBG (if I remember correctly, it's been a while since I played).

What aspects of each army is it that you like? If I know a little bit more about this I could offer a few more suggestions as to what would be good for you.

I get the feeling that this is a SBG query?

If it is for WOTR, then you can quite easily make a Corsair or mixed Haradrim/Corsair army using the 'Fallen Realm' list. Both types have sufficient numbers of 'common' options for you to do it largely without real restriction and the nature of the troops means it will be pretty effective. You also have the option of a couple of good 'battlehosts' using those troops.

In fact, given how inexpensive most of the troops in question are (not to mention their better heroes), the only limiting factor might be your ability to get all the models bought and painted! I guess that is the advantage of the littler SBG format? :)

The umbar list has both Haradrim and Corsairs so that maybe a suitable army to start on.

I play Corsairs for SBG, havent played many games of WOTR so can't comment on that.

For SBG I use a singe captain, and then equal numbers of spearmen, shields and the guys with crossbows (arballesters?). If I canI get a horn in there to boost my courage.
With F4 and a 4+ shoot value they're awesome, especially as everyone comes with throwing weapons!
Don't bother with normal archers.. order some Dark Elf crossbows from a bits site and convert the archers into crossbows. For a couple of pts more, you get Defence 6 against shooting, and a crossbow, making them one of the best shooting models in the game (for me anyway).
In my 500pt army I have one captain with a crossbow, 16 crossbows, one with a horn, 16 spears and 16 shields, and then one random corsair with spear and shield to sit with captain. I use them in groups of 8, dancing around throwing their daggers and shooting with crossbows, once they're softened up I then charge in and mop up the survivors. And don't be afraid to shoot into combats with the crossbows, I've stopped many heroes calling heroic combats and getting kills in Contest of Champions by "accidentally" shooting my guys ;)

Your biggest worry will be shooting.. with a low defence bows will start racking up kills quickly, but you should always be hitting the model limit in games, so you can afford to take a few casualties.
