I have an upcoming WOTR tournament. Restrictions at 30 models, 250 points. No Decree of Rarity.
I had several ideas.

6x Morgul Knights
8x Black Numenoréans

Numbers could be lowered for a hero, or add a captain to the Black Numenoréans.
I've got fifty pounds from my parents to spend on it, and it is in three weeks. I've got ages to decide loads, but I need more ideas!

Ca anyone help?

Are you sure your not talking about sbg? And pretty sure you need a hero.

Wierd. 250 pts is tiny for WOTR, I wasn't even aware you could play it so low. Id go with smt like:
Thyrdan
3c Black Guard
Siege Bow

Or just go for a nagyll on fellbeast. Perhaps Tainted or Dimmerlaik.

250pts, seems a pointless game myself, you can't play wotr with 250pts

It wasn't thought-up (the tournament) for the mass battles. It was apparently for "How people manage with fewer units".

I am tempted to take Treebeard, as I just discovered it's essentially LoME. I was thinking of this:

Treebeard
1x High Elf Archers

That way I can use Treebeard to smash them (if you didn't know, he has Fight 9) and use the archers to pick 'em off.

Then play SBG, as that is the game designed for smallish battles, at least then with plenty of terrain and scenarios you can play a tactical game rather than justy have 2 units meeting each other and rolling dice.

I can only assume that this must be some kind of store 'get people started, to then build up' initiative. Otherwise, no, it doesn't make much sense.

If you are doing this, I'd do something like what Noddwyr suggests. There are no restrictions on Rares, are there some on allies? Personally, if I had to make a 250 list, with the requirment to have a proper army commander in place, with a 30 model cap, I think Misty Mountains and Isengard would be the best way to go. Durburz/Druzhag/Thrydan as army commanders and some mix of blackshields/uruks and cheaper monsters.

Allies aren't in place. You can use a group of WoMT and some Rohan Warriors, etc.

Isengard it is, then. I'll get started tomorrow.

250 WotR??? Sick skills/armybuilding potential there...

Druzhag
4x Goblin Shields
3x Blackshields

Then Druzhag summons 6 companies of Giant Spiders, so you're actually playing 450 points vs whatever enemy 250 is. Autowin, since Spiders have insane killing potential, especially at such a low level.

Lol, that's a bit more than the fig ceiling Blackmist! He'll have to strike a balance: One of the cheap evil commanders (I see three obvious candidates), something heavy infantry for about 24 figs then something tough but low model count for the rest.

Doh, didn't notice that.

I guess mine would be similar to Slythar's then.

Another good one:

3x High Elf Archers,
Both Twins
