The light's really weird inside. It's too sunny outside to take good pictures, so we're sort of pushing our luck.

(Dol Amroth knights, note the Gondor horses)

Since spring I've been building a fiefdoms army. The basic components are centred on a formation of Dol Amroth knights. They are supported by a formation of Knights of Pelargir, archers from the Morthond Vale, infantry from Belfalas, a small group of Rohan federates and some Rangers of Gondor. At the end, I envisage a pretty large and diverse army, possibly backed up by Axemen of Lossarnach and men of Lamedon. All of the Eastern "fiefdoms" are represented.*

The Dol Amroth captain

It's sort of slow going. There's been a bunch of conversion work required, as well as some ebaying. Luckily most of the figures can be taken from the painting backlog, but the Lossarnach and Lamedon guys will still need buying sometime in the dim and distant future (ie, not now!).

The latest additions are these guys:

Knights of Pelargir.

This involved some odd and difficult choices and work. To get enough horses for the Knights of Dol Amroth, I ebayed. A lot of what I received were damaged. Some of these are actually Rohan horses...with head swaps. Some of them have blurred details. Maybe in a year's time I'll try and get more horses and replace the more problematic ones.

The Captain and Standard Bearer are Aragorn King of Gondor miniatures with head and arm swaps, and repainting.

I'll upload more tomorrow or the next day.

I love what you've done with the Knight of Pelargir, especially the Elessar conversions. The painting is great too, especially the vibrant blues on the SKoDA. Nice job.

The paint job on the horses looks fantastic! I like that you swapped horses. Would have really liked to see what Weta would have done in designing the Swan Knights and would thier horses have the big "blankets" on them.

Thanks all.

I ran out of Gondor horses towards the end, and I haven't seen any horses on their own on ebay in a long time, so I ended up using two of the plastic "SKODA" horses for the Pelargir guys. They sort of fit with the barding displayed by the two converted Ellesar figures.

Took some pictures during a game the other night, but it was late and the flash made everything look a bit Devlan Mud. I'll put some of those pictures up in a bit, but like I say, everything looks bad.

Later, if the lighting is good, I'll start some shots of the Blackroot archers, Ithilien Rangers and the Men of Belfalas.

And if the quality of them is anywhere near the quality of what we've seen so far, I shall look forward to seeing them. Particularly the Blackroot Archers as I've yet to see some of those painted up (besides the GW Website ones).

Across the way, the Men of Belfalas finally advance into battle and likely obliteration.

And Sir/Madam Not-Appearing-in-This-Army:

Eowyn of the Golden Hall!

Painted her in the last 24 hours, taking a lot of time with her skin and dress, so I'm pretty pleased how she turned out.

Really nice job with the Eowyn, also that's a great mini might I add.

Nice to see some battle pictures too!

Thanks - its why I take so long on the damn things. And even then I stare at them going: grrr, look at that flaw there, and that smudge and that shading which didn't shade!

After the Gondor Fiefdoms vs Fallen Realms project is complete, I am going to splash out and buy new brushes and some of those how to paint DVDs Dark Sword Miniatures sell, Really make the miniatures sing.
