I use a lot of gray stone so I started using more browns and yellows in my earth color base coat for contrast.

I think I would add Hirst Art Bricks to what you have. You can buy a lot of precast bricks for the cost of a GW Kit!

http://www.hirstarts.com/
I use : http://nalsworkshop.com/
Check the link section for some one local

so ok do yuo nuy molds and such and then fill them or do the blocks come already cast and if you do need to mold them what thing goes in the mold if you see what i mean?? the problem is that this seems pretty complicated so if you could just possibly go into furthe detail that would be great thanks :)

I think the best thing to do would be to purchase one of the pre cast kits and follow the instructions. This is the link to the ruined tower :
http://www.hirstarts.com/ruin/ruin.html
Kit $28 at http://www.nalsworkshop.com/complete-ki ... tv65kuhot1
I am sure you can find some one who sells the kits in your area.
You could follow the instructions exactly or make several ruined buildings from the kit. It seems hard but it is almost like Legos.
You can learn a lot reading the instruction links in the mold section.

yeah i did notice that as it was one of the few kits with pre cast bricks so thanks for all the info you have given me i used the ruins in a battle agaisnt my dad and they were the objective the only problem about the ruin is that in a battle it seems to get really cramped with individual defenders and the door was too easy to defend but more kits might help :)

so back for the first time in 2 months and starting this thread up again. had a few Wotr battles in the summer and if you think i should write a report then comment a nd let me know. my ruins have been coming along nicely nd most of them have been undercoated in black and with a basecoat of codex grey. i have however finished both of the staues that come with the set and they look pretty nice :)

yeah i was considering doing a small part of each side of osgiliath so you could have the orcs attacking one side like in the return of the king or have a scenario with faramir and boromir holding the bridge for a number of turns or somethig like that. Does anyone have any ideas about the bridge i mean should it be whole or ruined and then create some kine of wooden platform to make ot whole or have two interchangeable bridges one whole and one ruined :)

This site is information about the city.
http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Osgiliath

this site is also about the city, but far more detailed and even tells you which briges have collasped and which have been repaired and tells you there name, its all very nerdy, but if you want to have some insipiration and be accuarate it should help 8)

I cant believe some has posted about building an osgialth board. I am also toying with the idea of building a 6 x 4 full osgialth theme board. Using gw kits and simple hirts arts blocks and also the hirts arts ruin mold. for water you can use woodland senics

http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics. ... item/C1211.

I have seen it at my local independent retailer and from reading the instruction it looks simple to use.

I used simple PVA glue for water. I put up several colored layers. At the end I used glossy varnish. Its cheap 8)

I have had experinces with PVA for water, the main reason why most people dont use pva for water is becasue it very time consuming, compared to woodlands scenic water or other brands/ methods, other than that pva with paint/colouring die/ and a glossy vansih = perfect looking water. YOU SIRE ARE A BOSS!, to do all that with pva.

btw, looks great, although you could try and make some of the boats hyrbid for wotr as well, unless you only play SBG.

sorry i spelt that wrong,

"you sir are a boss". not "you sire are a boss"

Not sure if you guys say that sort of thing in hungary, but in australia we say that (well i do) to acknowledge something remarkable that someone has done or is doing. You know, like a kind of respect. I realy liked the water effects and admired you patients for using PVA glue, so i said, " you sir are a boss!! does that make sense now?

thanks very much IM A ENT these sites all look helpful. as for water i might just go with the pva glue appraoch as i have used it before on cavalry bases and it was quite effective! in the meantime i might draw up two seperate plans one for SBG on one for Wotr i like both so id quite like to have a board that i could use for both, i might try to make the buildings so that you can remove them whenever you like to play wotr. sharpen pencils and get some paper this could take a while :)
