Here are a couple pictures of my first painted WE. I've got 14 of 48 done. Sorry if the pic quality isn't the greatest, I just wanted to share my guys and get some feedback. In particular, how do you guys feel about the color scheme? I don't really know how it came about getting the purple in there, but it kind of grew on me, and now I actually like these guys a lot. I started out trying to get a autumn color scheme, but I couldn't get the colors right, so I ended up just throwing some paint on a model. I tried the same colors mixing up the placement on a few more guys, and eventually I got behind it. As it stands, I don't think any two models are the same, and I'm glad to have the variety after painting Eldar and VC. I started on Sunday night, so these have been the fastest painted models I've done, and I'm having a blast. Hoping to get the first 24 pack done buy thursday/friday, and then I'll put up pics of Legolas and Radagast after I strip the paint off of them.

Nice painting. Any particular reason why some of your elves think they are assasins? :)

Great choice of colours! Really looks like they could blend in the shading in the woods! How did you paint the faces?

Wow, glad you guys like them!

Lol, Uh, it helps them blend in with the forest  I gave about half of them green stuff masks. I hope they look okay, I'm not very experienced with green stuff and it took me a couple tries to get them right.

Thanks, I feel like it's got a spring time palet. It makes me think of a forest full of birch trees with purple blossoms and flowers. (Maybe I should make it a map? always wanted to do one)
As for the faces, they were base coated with tallarn flesh (Half the model was) and then given highlights of Dwarf flesh, followed by elf flesh, and then a badab black wash.

Haha, well I'm glad you're impressed, although I have to say I cheated on them for the most part. It was just basecoats followed by layering and drybrush highlights, and then a final wash. I've only been in the hobby for less than a year (9-10 months maybe), so I haven't mastered many techniques. I'll put up a picture of early radagast and legolas models before I strip them of paint, and then we'll see if you think I'm the perfect painter lol.

These guys are looking really good. You did a great job on the greenstuff masks, I'm painting wood elves right now myself, and I hardly noticed the masks. (That's good, you blended them in nicely, and I might just ahve to steal the idea... )
As for the painting, your skin could do with a little work. For my wood elves I'm following tidoco's lovely article. (http://www.one-ring.co.uk/kb.php?a=182)
Your skin would be better if you used a different colour of wash, like the dwarf flesh /dark flesh in the article. Black just looks too stark, and it makes them look like they coated their faces in charcoal to help camoflauge (sp?) themselves, then only partially washed! :)

I thought maybe we could do a little before and after, so here is a picture of legolas and radagast!

It was actually my friend who painted Legolas. But wow! If you think these guys look bad in the pic, imagine how they are in real life :o

I've got 19 of the warriors done, so hoping to have the 24 pack and two heroes finished up by tomorow (maybe even today if I work nonstop)

Thanks for checking in guys, I'll keep them coming!

Your wood elves are definately better painted then the Legolas (he has green in his hair). You can see there is some layering on Radagast though and hence I have to say I like the Radagast.

The not so wonderful picture quality blurs the horrid messiness that I know as radagast. :P trust me, he's really not very good. But worry not! I shall have him up and better than ever very shortly.

The pictures arent so good. Take a good camera, and take the photo when everything is light. If you do the photo next to a window, it will be more better. Use some paper background also, white is usually good.

Try it

I want to see your modells in better quality.

Your right there is no substitute for natural light - all my photographs I take outside in the daylight. :)

Thanks for the advice. I was going to take all the models when they were done and put them in a better light source so as you could properly see them. The first pictures were to just show off the color scheme and my WIP, but the next shots will be good quality. Promise 8)

I'll be sure to do this when I get a shot of all the guys together.

Okay, so I finally got everything finished up, but it took me a couple days to take pictures  Anyway, my camera is acting weird, and will only let me take three pictures at a time, so I only have these for now. First off...

A couple of Wood Elf Warriors:

WE final 2.jpg

Some more particularly interesting Wood Elf warriors:

WE final 1.jpg

And, finally, my completed Radagast and Legolas! These guys look a lot better now (just compare the two pictures), but I love the Radagast model the most, always have.

Well that's what I got for now. I'll add more WE warriors, and some sentinels when the time comes around, and I even have plans for an ent
I hope the pic quality is better now. I'm sure there is more I could have done, like adding back-lighting, but I'm lazy. If you guys want to see the whole army together, I can throw a pic up later on. Thanks for looking guys!

I love your wood elves! They are painted very well.
But your Radagast is also very impressive, especially the stone on the staff. I looks like its glowing
Not to mention the brave dog:)

Very nice painting. You may be surprised to know the number of people who dislike the official Radagast, I am not one of them and besuides yours is great.
