Nice job on the eyes Dave. Possibly a bit too much blue for my liking but that's a matter of personal opinion and does not detract from the fact they are nicely painted.

Thanks Jake! :)
I like to give my heroes eyes that 'pop', and figure that he is also going to be done in a darker palette that they will add some spark to the model.

Sound logic Dave, I'm sure it will look great when finished and they will definitely do the job you wanted them to.

His eyes are great - I'd never have the guts to try and paint eyes any other way than I'm used to. You might be onto a winner with this one 8)

The beard is well painted. Is the cloak just at the basecoat stage at the moment?

Actually the beard was a quick drybrushing which is now all back to grey again, and the red on the cloak is only a basecoat (same with his crown?).

Green cloak I think he means maybe?

Dave, I envy your ability to paint eyes! Those are some beauties (cue Jeepers Creepers tune). Can you share your secret with us?

Thanks guys! :)

Think I'll keep clear of green skin on my dwarves GothmogtheWerewolf, but thanks! :)

Sure...what I do is to paint the eyes first on my models face. Start with white and then decide if my model is going to look left or right...doing this gives the model a more lifelike look to his eyes. I will rarely have a model looking straight ahead do to the unnatural look of it and the difficulty to avoid them not being perfectly centered giving the model a lazy eye. My heroes usually get something other than a dark brownish/black color unless they are supposed to have that color, so I usually go blue or green...sometimes a hazel (Catachan Green). Hope that helps a bit. :)

Nope, he means it should be an Orc/Goblin. He has a bit of an unhealthy obsession with evil :-D .

Wow! That's very well painted. The green wash you used really works wonders. 8)

Great painting on Balin Dave. The face and beard are great and the green wash you gave the axe works really well.
