Very nice, except the left ones eyes are far too big. It looks like he's wearing huge glasses! (Galadhrim nerd?)

Nice painting on these guys, though I don't like the grey hair.

Thanks for the kind words and help guys :)

Telchar, I think it's because I left more shading around his eyes, perhaps a new unit Galadhrim Librarian? lol

Gothmog, Yea I tried to go for a white haired elf like a bleached blonde style but didnt know what colour to basecoat the hair... think I might go for another white haired one with my bowmen just with a different basecoat maybe black or light blonde or a very light grey.

Going to start on the 4 bowmen tonight :)

Really like your Galadhrim.
I prefer the eyes on the left one, more above the others.

For white hair I would use Fortress grey for a base, highlight with 75/25 mix (FG/SW), then a highlight of 50/50 (FG/SW), then a final highlight of SW.

Heres the Haldir I've been working on for the painting challenge, the base was my first go at sculpting something :) for some reason it looks a different mini than shown in the pics I dunno how to take proper pictures. Nice to finally get a hero painted up it was fun. I'll have to take some pics during the day and put them up!

Heres what I'm working on now, some morgul knights. It's a bit hard to see the details atm but I've done all the rusty armor and started grey highlights on the cloth of 2

Heres an updated Haldir picture taken during the day, makes a bit of a difference I think :)

Hey guys, trying to paint up my fell beast but I've hit a real roadblock with the wings. I'm just not sure what to do or how to do it I've tried to blend but its too blocky. If anyone has some colour tips and technique tips that'd be great. Thanks

Having not held this version of the Fell beast in my hand and had a close look at it I'm only guessing here. For such a large area as the wing membranes I would go the drybrushing route for maximum detail and worn effect. Try mixing equal parts Chaos black and Vomit Brown ( Sorry old paint names I know but I haven't started with the new ones yet) and drybrushing heavily over the black basecoat add more vomit brown to the mix for consecutive highlights. Finish up with an equal parts water and badab black wash over the top.

To be quite honest though GD your blending is actually pretty good on the wings, It is actually really really difficult to blend colours on larger surfaces as the transition between the colours is more "in your face" if you know what I mean. When I paint my fell beast I'm going with a pinky flesh colour for the wing membranes (not strictly by the book but hey each to their own, thats the beauty of this hobby there is no right or wrong way of doing things. Do whatever works best for you 8) )

Good advice above ^ . The plastic wings look detailed enough for the drybrush and wash process so go for that. "Bath-time mister fellbeast!" :)

Thanks guys, just the advice I needed :) I guess I got carried away with blending after doing the spikes because I was so pleased with them.... that I totally forgot about drybrushing! Now the big question is, have I drowned out too much of the detail on the wings to re-basecoat it and drybrush over? I did about 4 very watered down coats, then on the grey side another 3 so the right wing has 7 watered down coats.... should I look into stripping the wings somehow or will it be ok?

I wouldn't have thought you would have to strip the wings, I would say you have 2 options either of which should work fine ..
1/ Apply a heavy wash of badab black on the grey wing and then start drybrush highlights from there
2/ Re -prime the grey wing black and drybrush highlight from there either way should work fine as its pretty difficult to loose detail on such large areas and drybrushing picks out detail of tiny proportions.

Oh the blending on the spines does look rather tasty , can't wait to see the model finished. Looking at your makes me want to break my fell beast box open and have a go :D

Thanks a heap :) :) I think I'll head down the re-prime path. Thanks I'm happy so far, not a fan of the lack of detail on the body as it exposes my skills somewhat but I've done a bit more since those pictures and am pleased overall. I'd love to see a painter as good as you take on the fell beast, would give me inspiration for my next one :D

Heres an update :) I've got bogged down on the wings again, the drybrushing on there looks a little too chalky so I gave up and got started on the head and then some scales on his body. Just got the straps, saddle and claws to go aswell as finishing touches to the wings and body

Is that freehand scales on the bottom half of the fellbeast? Very cool :)
