One Legolas done:

It's a little bit dark overall and the lighting isn't completely accurate but I guess it's all part of the learning process.

Very nice model! I really like the leaves on the base, where did you get them?

They are from the woodland kit by basecraft. It's rather nice with ten different materials for £12.

Hi guys.

For the four day weekend here in the UK I decided to treat myself with a lotr film and painting marathon. Since I have been enjoying painting elf characters I picked up a box of galadhrim elves with the intention of building a small army. My first test mini didn't turn out too well - I wanted a dark blue/black armour but creating the definition to the armour plates proved very difficult. This is my second attempt which I am rather liking and is straight forward to replicate:

The pictures are a little blurry, but it looks really nice, I really enjoy looking at your work, you're one of my favorite painters. I'm looking forward to see what you paint next. 8)

Here's a very early shot of my possible Royalty painting competition:

Little more than a basecoat for most of the model. There are a couple of tricky parts - getting the lighting correct on the cloak is taking a lot of back and forth and the face doesn't have the sharp definition of other sculpts.

I agree. You always seem to make every model you paint look very realistic. 8)

Thanks guys. It's taken a lot of work to get to this standard and it hasn't always been easy so I really appreciate the comments.

I did a little more last night - started on the metal areas, added some more contrast to the face and smoothed out the leather parts.

Most of the model has a few layers of paint now. Still lots to do as even allowing for the poor quality photo there's a lack of definition (partly why I changed the horse to a grey).

Amazingly realistic painting as always. You really have a style all your own. Are you able to produce photos with more light so we can see the details better?
