For my next project, I've decided to start an all mounted Rohan army, the opposite of my current army - Dwarves (and yes, I know I haven't finished the Dwarves yet). This will be a challenge for me, as I have painted horses for a long time, since about June last year, and these horses will be done without washes.
So without further ado, the first two Riders of Rohan:

I will still be doing the poll, but due to the draw last time I've restarted it with Easterling Warriors and Rangers of Gondor. However Dwarves come first as I need to finish them before the end of the month - and with exams on I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it.

Still getting through them, the first 6 Riders of Rohan are complete (you can see two in more detail in the previous post).

(You can see larger versions of the first two images in the blog (link below))

These guys have come out great! Do you find the horses a pain to paint? or is that just me  as I've got a backlog of horses needing done. Keep this up, I shall pop in again for a look once you've got an update. 8)

To be honest, I just think of each part of the horse as a piece of cloth, although the tails, main and reins do cause me a bit of a problem to paint. Thinking about the bigger picture (finished army) helps me get through that though.

Thank you :D

Well I've just bought 2 more boxes of Riders of Rohan :D :D :D so that takes my total up to 24 (6 painted, 6 need repainting, 12 unpainted), exactly what I need for my 600 point army :D
Also, I've started work on the poll winners - Easterlings! :D Not sure what I'll put on the next poll though, so look out for it.

Here is my Eowyn and Elfhelm models that I will be using. Very simple conversion, explained in the blog.

Blog link:

I've also finished some Easterlings, but need some batteries to photograph them with

EDIT: Poll has been added, you have two choices, most popular will be painted first. These are my command options for my Riders of Rohan. I won't show you pictures yet, as I need batteries and the conversions aren't finished yet, so whatever you pick, you'll be in for a surprise

I've got some more Dwarves done, although I was running out of spray when I did them, so they're not brilliant.

In battle against some Easterlings:

Very nice Dwarves, though my sympathy is with the poor Easterlings in the first picture.

Nice conversiions, especially the banners, very well done, green stuff isn't the easiest ting to make banners out of, as I found when doing a Mahud one.

Thanks Gothmog, the left banner wasn't too difficult because it was supported by the spear, but the right was a pain. In the end I waited for it to cure a bit, before trying to get it to stay upright, as gravity pulled it down.

Thank-you - I'd like to see your conversions :) The spear's from a WoMT, although you could use one from a GotFC. From my blog:
Quote:
The second Banner Bearer (right) started life as a Rider of Rohan with Bow. The banner was made in the same way as the first, and his right hand was replaced with that of Éowyn's, as she is now headless. The spear which the banner is attached to was originally a spare spear from the Warrior of Minas Tirith, with some Green Stuff added to make it look more like those carried by the Rohirrim (it has been "trimmed" since the photo was taken).
