I had some fireplace mortar left from repairing the drier vent so I used it on the pink foam. I made some custom molds from tube silicone. I will only have to cast once per Moria column now. I did the same with the stair case details.

How big will this project be?

Pink foam projects
1. a new rock back ground for the Misty Mountains or Thermopylae.
a. Thermopylae 1'X8' for my brother
b.The Misty Mountains/Christmas village Mountains 1'X6' for the game room.
c.Three 1'X4' mountain sections for TreeFort Games.
2.Lonely Mountain- I am not sure yet.

The casting projects are up grades for Moria and some non GW fantasy games.
I may use the molds for the terrain challenge. I am not sure what to make.
I am working out how to make the long wooden bridge parts for Goblin Town that will be strong enough to put models on. Most of my models are lead. Many of the new figures are tin but they still have enough mass to pull the hill over if I use rope type bridges like the bamboo place mats. I have several ideas. The simplest will involve a base larger than I like to use.

I used the wire tree jig to make steel rope for a bone bridge. It looks like the steel wire will be strong enough for Goblin town wood bridges.
I will cut two parallel slots in a pine board for the wire to run through.Then I will cut the individual boards on the cross cut saw. That way I won't have to drill and measure two holes in each board for the wire.



I cut to length some more saved hedge trimmings. Then draped a bamboo place mat across the post. I think three ledges might look better. There will be room for a tea candle fire pit or two then.
I do not know if I will be able to find more of the bamboo place mat to cut up I only have one left I intend to rip some thin strips to make into planks for Goblin Town. Craft sticks will work perfectly fine but I will save them for the kids. I don't want them to use the power tools for something like that.

This is really starting to look amazing. Love the rickety bridges. I can just imagine a swarm of goblins all over it!

My brother collects the Dwarf Wars miniatures. I got the black primed mammoth in trade. I used it in the photo so my brother could get an idea of scale. I really need to paint it. I don't have a crew. I have so many projects about to start I do not know when I will get the chance.

Current Project: Ringwraiths - Haradrim - Mumakil

It takes 8 cast to make a large column base. With the custom mold I can make one column base per cast.
The tube silicon is harder to use than most silicon mold products but much cheaper. The mold is not very good.
I only need eight columns so it will be ok. I will have to make a better mold if I try to do more.
The base coat is a mixed gray over a black primmer.

I cut one end off some pine bark to start on the terrain challenge and got side tracked working out bridges for Morria and Goblin Town.



9"X9" the wood bridge will fit



A stone bridge will fit too

Great work so far Charles, loving this! Really nice to see your working from clips from the Hobbit trailer as well - it's nice to finally have some more new material to work with (I'm especially looking forward to scenes from Dale and the dwarf holds).

Can't wait to see how that will turn out!
