I dunno, if you barge a group of riders of rohan at the start of the fight phase, they all get thrown (potentially killing them) and your allies fighting them get to fight them on the floor instead next round!

They are actually very good when used correctly, and can basically beat anyone by skirmishing

They've performed very well for me so far! But it's tough and ever precarious and I can see a lot of ways where they could be countered and their weaknesses exploited!

I've also experienced Knighty's fell beast tossing a rider into two others who were in combat... awesome!

Mostly meant in humor (thus the  ) but of all Cavalry in the game I just think RoR are the ones most left behind and it was just funny seeing them picked. Having a Good monster toss Morgul Knights or Serpent Riders, or a Troll tossing SKoDA or even KoMT would have been an example. RoR, though effective if played well, are about the lowest on the cavalry food chain considering they are still based on the original troop baseline stats (F3/S3/D4+shield) rather than the more common F4 and/or S4 and/or D5 that has become the new standard.

Having only experienced my own Westfold Redshields and their leaders so far, with a brief flirt with mt RRG last night, it's my only experience of cavalry so far in the game! So is it a case that they are underpowered or that other cavalry is overpowered in comparison to the Horse-Lords?

They're underpowered. No cavalry is overpowered.

Cavalry underpowered and overpowered depends pretty much on the situation.
They can shine on the field if played well, but also very bad things can happen to them if there not well played.

But as I learned, they are bad in you do a front assault move, they go ill vs monsters unless you can afford getting 3+ fighting a monster and wear him down with time or if supported by a powerfull heroe to counter just annoying problems.

I picked RoR because one of my nextdoor neighbours normally uses a Rohan all cavalry army.

I think rohan is superb just the fact they can add so many horsemen and most of them just basically being cheap no matter their stats and can still use bows and benefit from the better defence also using shields :)
