I want to put together a White Company for Minas Tirith, like the one that Beregond was sent to. I see it as the Guard of the Steward, or perhaps the Steward's son. I'll use the stats for the Citadel Guards (I'd like the longbow for at least some of my MT troops).

So, I've got 48 WoMT (2 old boxes of 24, 16 each with sword, bow or spear), Boromir of the White Tower plus banner, two banner bearers and a captain. I want to have around 1/3 of them as White Company, the rest are to be normal soldiers. How can I best split them up , and what other figures do I need to command them?

If you are using Citadel Guard stats (even though fountain court are better) i'd just use all your womt archers as 'white company'. If you want this to be thematic, consider throwing in a knight of the white tower to lead some of your infantry...

Maybe sculpt cloaks for some of them too? As you have already said, Beregond was sent to join them, so use him in the army. Maybe use some of the Citadel Guard sculpts as captains too.

*sigh*

What do you plan to use the WoMT w/ spear + shield as? Because citadel guard cannot take shields. Please dont say fountain court. I have played a proxy army where the WoMT were CG and FC and it was confusing as hell, not to mention an insult to the game.
If you want to use the plastics as the metal variants, convert/ sculpt/ change them to look as close as possible to the model you wish to represent.

Proxy = Bad
Conversion = Slightly Better
Actual Model = Best Option.

Thanks. I should have said. "How should I split them up, so that I can start converting and painting as necessary".

Well, I went and did it anyway.

Here is a photo of a couple of conversions, the Captains at the front.

Trust me, they look fine on the table...
