About 5 or 6 years ago I drifted away from the hobby and this fine site, due to an overwhelming job and increasing family obligations (birth of a second child). Now with a new job, some spare time, and a 12 year old son who's fallen in love with Middle Earth, I decided to break out my old Games Workshop minis, introduce the lad to the game and put him to work painting my rather large backlog. He's doing quite well, by the way.

A couple of days ago I decided to try my old log-in here and get re-acquainted with the hobby and some old friends, namely David Terian (Bilbo of the White Tower) and a fellow from South Africa by the handle of Tobold Hornblower. I had corresponded and traded with these fine gentlemen regularly back in the day and was looking forward to introducing them to my son.

I was deeply saddened to read of David's passing. He was as fine as could be found in this community. I regret not re-connecting with him sooner.

My son's interest in the hobby as re-ignited my own. I plan to become active here once more and get my son registered here as well. I've noticed that none of my previous gallery photos, or my Swan Knight conversion thread, survived the various updates to this site. I will work on adding photos to the gallery very soon.

Glad to be back. See you all soon.

David Clark

Welcome back David. Its great that you can enjoy the site and the hobby now with your son. I hope my own lad will share my interest one day too if I can tear him away from his DS for long enough lol.

Terrible news about Dave indeed. He was much loved and will always be a sadly missed member of this community.

I think a lot of the gallery pics where lost when the site was hacked rather than due to the updates. You'll have to get painting and create a new gallery to showcase both yours and your sons new adventures in Middle Earth.

Welcome again and see you around.

Welcome back, or is it welcome home ?
I look forward to seeing your pics and to seeing a father and son combination here. Who will win that one though it would be nice to see a joint project, I don't think we have had one like that.

Hi and welcome back. It's no surprise how people drift in and out of the hobby when the real world gets in the way. We have at least one other father / son combination who has signed up fairly recently i believe.. As you can see by my signature we aim to be a children friendly site and inappropriate language and behaviour is not tolerated. Please feel free to report anything you are not happy with and action will be promptly taken.

The site got hacked a while ago and Alan is still rebuilding bits as his time allows. Despite this, the site is still in decent shape and there are active painting challenges etc. to get involved with. The current batch of members are a friendly bunch.

Looking forward to your contributions to the Community :-)

Welcome back! It's good to see another fellow player in the Spokane area. I hope your son finds a keen interest in the hobby to keep it alive.

Welcome back!! Looking forward to see new conversions of yours! I still remember how you made the swan knights of Dol Amroth so attractive! :D

Thanks for the warm welcome, Gentlemen. It's nice to be remembered after a long absence.

My first task is to finish painting my Swan Knights and then finish the rest of my Dol Amroth Army. There will be mild conversions with that, involving GW's Men At Arms pikemen and a few Warriors of Minas Tirith.

After that, the rest of my Fiefdom troops will follow.

David

I know this is an old topic but I just had to respond. So good to see "old friends" again.

So sad to read about David. I didn't know until today. I sent him a Gandalf figure I painted that he liked so much. All those memories came flooding back.
