Hello all,
About a month ago I started a painting and WIP blog. If you have some time and would like to check it out, do so and let me know what you think.
http://paintingmiddleearth.blogspot.com/

I just recently added some photos of Dave's Birch Tree Ent to the Fangorn Forest post. It was a blast to paint!

Thanks for looking,
-Randy

I like your mini's very much! Keep those pics coming 8) I love the color scheme on the converted high elf (the one slashing the orc). What red did you use on the cloak?

ps : nice freehand work as well.

Thanks for the compliment!

That elf was alot of fun to do. With respect to the colors, I use paints from a local store for the most part. That was a True Red, with various amounts of Burnt Umber mixed in for the low and high lights.

If you use GW paints, you might as Dead Marsh Spectre what he used. His high elves (Beleriand) were the inspiration for that paint scheme.

The Numenorean is awesome! It would make a great bodyguard for Elendil.

I'll work something out, I have a few high elves hanging around on which I could try a bit. :) The thing I hate about the elves, high elves or galadhrim (the ones in the boxes) is that they all have such stupid poses with their swords... (IMO).

The alliance elf conversion is stunning. You've encapsulated the Orc charge into the elven line perfectly. If you was to replicate this using maybe 20 figures it would be a devastating diorama.

Another round of updates to the blog, including a Rare Lurtz pose, some eBob miniatures and a fully armored Theoden. I am trying to make some more elaborate bases for more important minatures. You will have to let me know what you think.

The Lurtz pose can be found here:

Very good, I love it. That's a wonderful way to show them off.
Now this maybe me, but the edge of the base I feel would look better with a coat of varnish to give it a nice shine. Each to their own and it may not be your thing, if so then no problem.
The actual diorama I am slightly envious of and it has me thinking about an Amon Hen slant on your version with some of the Fellowship getting stuck in.

Hey thanks guys. I think you are right Gandalf, a coat of varnish may look pretty good. I will put some on it.

The weather is getting nicer and that means more fishing and less painting, but I live in Pittsburgh, so there is plenty of Devlan Mud weather to get some painting done! I added some stuff to the blog in April. All are conversions that UKfreddybear did for me, including a couple of Ringraiths on fire after thier encounter with Aragorn at Weathertop, and a Shagrat converted to a banner bearer very similar to DMS's. These were great conversions and a ton of fun to paint. I actually entered the banner into this months painting competition! They each have thier individual posts, but you can find multi-angle views here on the Majestic Bear page I made:

Thanks for looking guys,
-Randy

Awesome job Randy. I think I'll have to do a few of those coifed Rohirrim for myself one day.

Great work and nice site but might I suggest you change the darkish grey background to one where the text stands out better. For my old goblin eyes and possibly some other members it makes it hard to read the text.

This site might help
