I feel like the mathematician mentor in Good Will Hunting. People see my collection and think, he's got it all, but I know the truth. . . and it hurts. On a side note, Ebay has sucked lately, all the old usual suspects, nothing to really blow the bank on.

Anyone know the story behind it? Is it an old model, 80s? Or a more recent version?

A little research and I found this thread...: http://one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=12371
It seems the wight is pre-Weta.. although it looks quite like it belongs into the "modern" LotR-line... I don't know..

Well, I know this is not an official GW mini, but I think this is the best Grond anyone has done...

What do you think about this Grond? Dolduriel sculpted it few years ago, and there are two beast too...

I have a grond that is much the same as the one you have pictured there. Bought from an ebay shop in Greece i think.

I think the grond i have is a little but fatter than the one pictured, must have eaten one too many warriors of minas tirith : )

This one is 33 cm longer, and the beast are so big too, this afternoon maybe I'll take a picture...
This Grond is sculpted by Dolduriel, from Spain.

the unreleased wight has no armour, as opposed to the two which were sold, I wonder if it was a matter of the figure's design

Yeah I could see that, but the Olog-Hai is definitely pre Weta.

I am not convinced the unreleased Wight is "pre-Weta" and I am 99% certain it was intended for the 'modern' range. Given that Weta didn't make Barrow Wights, GW will have sculpted a few up of their own for the expanded universe, with designs not from the movies. This one seems to be inspired by by one of John Howe's paintings:
I wonder whether there was copyright involved of whether GW just wanted a more dynamic pose/design?

I think your right, the style of sculpt is not like the old Citadel releases, more "current"

Just to make that clear, it wasn't my opinion that the wight is pre-LotR, that was, what they had written in the other post. And I also know (very well) that the wights didn't appear in the film.. ;)
What i meant to intend with "pre-Weta" is simply, that Weta (and artists like John Howe and Alan Lee) created all these fantastic creatures, and although not everything GW designs/realeases within the LotR-Range is created by Weta, it might be safe to say that a lot of their "expanded universe" stuff is inspired by it! :)
