Hey guys, playing another siege soon with me as the defender. Playing with 500pts and pretty stuck with what to take. I was thinking radaghast, arwen and haldir with as many wood elves and high elves as i can. He will definitely have witch king on fell beast with a troll chieftain so i need help.

Use radagast's panic steed (throw a couple of will dice at it) to ensure that fell beast is down. If he's taking that kinda stuff at 500pts, taking out a fell beast would be a pretty big loss straight away.

I don't play elves but I think a big pitfall here would be to waste too many points on bowfire post-nerf, so stick to defending doorways and elevated positions etc.

I didn't think Panic Steed worked on Fell beasts? I'd make sure to get plenty of archers actually, they aren't going to be moving when defending a wall, so they don't have the Shooting penalty, plus they're elves, so the stronger bows and better Shoot value would still put you at a 50/50 chance of hitting even if you moved. The elf bows could easily cut down regular orcs, which I'd assume would be his main warriors if he's spending most of his points on a troll chief and Witch King. With few troops left by the time he reaches your walls, he shouldn't be much of a threat. If you have the points, bring some Rivendell Knights/Galadrim Cavalry/an Eagle to ride out and take down any siege engines.

Sounds almost like a rehearsal for the scenes shown in some of the DoS trailers where Azog the Defiler and his associates appear to be attacking the Mirkwood Elves in some sort of fortifications.
Good luck and do a battle-report with some pictures (we all love those).

At 500 points vs 900, every point is at a premium. I'd skip the high elves, and major heroes like Radagast too. A mix of shielded Galadhrim, and wood elves with bows and spears+TD might serve better. Heck, if you're defending and have good cover, maybe all wood elves is the way to go, since shots or hits have to make it past barriers first.

I didn't realize it did either until a GW employee mentioned it.

Quote from the EFGT rulebook:

"This power may only target mounted models (even those on monstrous mounts)..."

Enjoy removing a fell beast from play with just 1 spell :-D

at 500 pt i would agree to not taking big hero's unless u know u can pay for their points and not being out numbed. but i would only suggest 1 major hero unless there cheap like some of the rohan hero's and gondor.
