The Mumuk profile states that it cannot be targeted by certain spells. My books are all packed up except my Hobbit mini rules so I can't get you the full quote right now.

"The mumak is immune to the effects of...any magical powers or abilities that would prevent it from moving normally. These spells can, however, be directed against the model controlling the Mumak - In this case the Mumak will be affected instead"

I don't think Compel / Transfix would actually have that effect on the Mumuk though. Didn't the rules specify that it would leave the controlling model effected but you still couldn't move the Mumuk? You could Compel the driver to move to another part of the Howdah (leaving the Mumuk without a driver for a Stampede test if applicable) but you couldn't have the driver walk the Mumuk off somewhere else.

I haven't had a situation like this come up since the Hobbit rules came out so haven't looked into it for a long time TBH. Maybe I'm remembering wrong...
