Not surprisingly an amazing paint job, if I was being super critical I'd say I'm not too keen on the blue tongue though I understand why you have gone for it.
A truly stand out piece for your collection :yay:

Thanks Phil - yes i agonised over the blue tongue. Being on such a tight schedule and really wanting to get on with commission work i opted to leave it with the original blue plan.

Dripping saliva, very ingenious. Have you applied the glue to some thin thread to get this effect ?
Must admit the colour scheme is excellent as with the painting, but the latter I'm sure you knew.

The dripping saliva is done in a totally different way to the UHU method.
I waited for my lovely wife to fall asleep before pulling a hair from her head (blonde hair works best or i would have used my own)
superglue the hair in place and tie something to the loose end to keep it straight. Now apply some PVA glue to the pulled tight hair.
Once the glue is dry cut to desired length and brush on water effects. You can keep applying the water effects until you have the desired look.

Thanks for the comment Mally.

Very well painted Smaug. I think the base is the best part actually. All those gems!

Maybe not that impressive concerning it's size, but your paintjob definitley makes up for it! Especially the treasure is stunning!

Very nice Kev, perfect paint job.

I have this figure from years ago, problem I had was it was to heavy for its tail and after a few days it would fall under its own body weight! So it remains unpainted.
I was wondering if MM had improved it? If not be careful.

Looks amazing! I especially like the wings, they look very realistic.

And that poor elf doesn't have long to live, I have to wonder if you're punishing him for all the Golden-armored elves

Obviously excellent. The colours used on the scales are as perfect as they get, a great golden-red hue, with both those recurring in the wings and belly to tie it all together.
Have to agree on the tongue though, simply too contrasting and bright.
Gah, already wanted to purchase some dragon to paint up as Smaug, now that's even more compelling...

Thanks for the shout out little elf 8)
Love the paint job, drool and basing. Not a big fan of the model itself, but that's just me. I am quite fussy. :)

I know why and completely understand your reasons, in fact I share the same dislike. I eagerly await GW's rendition of Smaug.

Cheers guys :)
