Has anyone used Isildur in-game, how did he go? He seems really good for his points!? [EDIT - you can't post profiles] (with shield) AND THE ONE RING what could go wrong? For those who know he is one of the lowest point valued "3s" heroes.

I was thinking of going with Isildur mounted with shield and allying in a mounted beregond and 6 knights of Minas Tirith to give him a mounted force since Numenor is lacking there and the knights make easy substitutes.

I used him once, a long time ago. He's pretty good for his points, especially with the Ring becoming better in the newest update. He's a very capable battlefield commander, but obviously Magic is his undoing

Thats what I am worried about... however an expensive fix it could be to add Lindir who has the 6" Magical Resistance but thats just opening a whole new kettle of fish.

You could take the risk and make him wear the ring all the time to make sure he can't be targeted by a spell (or range fire, or close combat from low courage models)

I'd say his main weakness is that he's in a Numenor army, and therefore only has one troop type he can lead (as far as I remember). I don't have the rules on me, but doesn't he have very few fate points too?

Suladan is 3's and a bit cheaper, but suffers from 1 Fate problems. If I was using Isildur, like others have said, I'd just keep the Ring on. :)

He is a solid choice, but his army lets him down, so he is not often used. He can fit a perfect role if you are looking for a last alliance army and definitely benefits from a horse. The down-sides have already been mentioned - he is a good hero but wont last forever.

He should last for a while with the extremely high defence and does have more fate than a regular captain, so thats not to bad. He is 2 goblins with shields more expensive than suladan but has 1 more fate, fight, courage and 2 more defence = worth his price.

I really wish he could lead anything other than the numenor crabs :/

Bring alfrid along to give him more might so he never fails the one ring roles... hehehe

Such a pitty though he can't benefit from the ring while mounted (I think?). But yeah it's not like he is going to lose any fight while wearing it on foot anyway.

You could add him to another army but maybe mounted Boromir of the Fellowship is a better choice if you weren't going to take any troops anyway?

The Ring can't be used whilst mounted!?!?!?! Surely not!?!?! I thought it could be used as if Isildur willed it over him and his mount or something? Is it in the rules?

You can benefit from the ring while mounted.

I would assume that the horse would not benefit from the effects of the ring and would be considered visible? Not like the horse wields the ring. If that was the case, why didn't they just give the ring to bill the pony, the unstoppable killing machine!

Well the ring turned everything frodo held onto invisible so why not a horse, and surely a man of the lines of kings of numenor would have greater control and prowess with the ring than a hobbit thus the horse can be reasonably assumed invisible, also the horse and mount count as one model not separate so it would be weird having half a model invisible and the other half not - well this is what a previous thread came to the conclusion of.
