Legolas and Taurial both look great! I think Legolas' eyes look great, they are very well done. :yay:
Beorn looks good too, I agree about the pose though.

Nice Kev, where are you getting your basing materials from?

Basing materials.

Woodland scenics field grass
Army painter meadow tufts
Army painter meadow flowers
Javis model railway hedge foliage.

Rocks are a mix of gravel and and bits of cork.

Cheers Paul.

Thanks Kev, to save me hunting, can you recommend any online sellers for the products above?

I wonder if UKFB will convert a Beorn to have the shackle and his vest on as has been suggested? Just saying.... :)
And then someone would have to paint it...

Painted up a couple of models for the GBHL guys to use in there battle reports. Elladan and Elrohir Ft & mtd. Nightmare sculpts these two - the faces were really difficult. Hope you like them guys.

Attended the Desolation of Stockport at the weekend and as I'm not really a gamer (yet) I took along my paints and a couple of models. I set myself a challenge to have Beorn and Bear completed by the end of the tournament. I managed to finish them with seconds to spare.

I have already congratulated James and Jamie on the outstanding event but one more won't hurt. Well done guys you are fast becoming legends!

Anyway Beorn and Bear.....

Lots more pictures in the DEAD MARSHES

I have added Beorn and Bear to Cool Mini Or Not If you would like to register a vote click the link. Much appreciated.

They all look great. But I'm going to limit myself to gushing about Elladan and Elrohir. They look fantastic! Painted to your usual absolutely incredible standard. What astounds me the most is the free - hand on the cloaks! I understand the concept of most the other techniques used (obviously I haven't mastered them to your level) but the free-hand continues to escape me. Well done sir

Stunning work as always Kev! It was great to meet you over the weekend and watch Beorn progressing over the 2 days, really interesting watching you work. Thanks for all the tips (Vomit Brown for the win!), hopefully I'll be putting them into practice on my own Beorn before too long! :-)

Hey dead marsh I may have missed it because of all the pages but do you do a painting guide or more specifically a beorn guide? I just picked up the man/bear and I have no clue how to approach it if I ever decide to lol

Was talking with Dr Grant over the weekend over a beer or two (could have been 3 lol) anyway we were discussing the best way to highlight black. In my experience vomit brown mixed with black followed by badab black wash and then highlight again with original mix and a further highlight with the addition of a little more vomit brown to the mix seems to work well. Don't be put off by the strange green colour the mix seems to make..it really works.

I prefer this method over using grey as a highlight for black as often the more you highlight the black with greys the greyer the model becomes and you lose the black. I used the vomit brown method on the bears fur and beorns trousers.

Quick question on painting pal, where youve put details for example elven scripy on cloaks etc, is that put on at the end or do you put it on pre shade and highlights?
