Hey folks! It's been a while since the last update..
Since I had two Lurtzes in my backlog, I thought it would be a clever idea two paint both models for the painting competition and decide then, which one to enter. But, as you might guess, now as they are finished I am even less decisive concerning that matter..
Maybe you can let me know, which one you prefer? Further comments and critique are welcome too of course! As always :)

Great work. Personally I prefer the left, but perhaps that's only because it's the rare model! I think the face is more interesting, which is certainly your paint job.

What's happening with the Rohan house?

Thanks for your nice compliments! :)

Don't worry mertaal - the hall, although it had to step aside a bit, is still in the making. I think I finished most of the painting of the base, so that some photos of that could follow sooner or later. I am still looking for the right material for the thatching though.

Excellent work. I prefer the guy on the left. The bowstring swung the vote for me. How did you make that?

Thanks hannanibal.. still lightyears away from your standards though ;)
The bowstring is made of hair, that I carefully glued into place with superglue and cut to the right length, once it was dry. After that, to give it a bit more "thickness" I covered it in a few layers of paint.

Here are some better views on the model:

So you dabbed superglue onto the bow ends then glued a long hair over them before cutting it to size? Cool. Sounds simple enough!

I apologize, that I still don't have an update concerning my Rohirrim hall, but I promise to do that soon. In other news I found some more time for painting last week and hope you enjoy it :)
I had to give Sharkû's rear a small loin cloth btw beacause I didnt like the naked orc-bottom at all! :P

A nice change there with the white Minas Tirith banner. Very pleasant to the eye. From your previous photos I mostly enjoy Erkenbrand. One of the few hero models from the range, not coming directly from the movies that actually make me believe he was "there". Nicely done!

@paliouras: Thanks ! I thought a white banner would be suitable for the white city and not look as boring, as the usual black ones. I appreciate your compliment concerning Erkenbrand. IMHO the mini is fantastic, just nothing to complain about, neither with the sculpting nor the pose :)

@Gandlaf: Your comment makes me feel glad! Thank you for the kind words, it's good to know I make some progress ;)

Great work as always. I love the multiple tones in the warg's fur, and the cream of the minas tirith banner is nicely done= such a hard colour to paint.

So, as asked by a few of you, here's a tiny update on my Rohirrim hall. It's not much, but the painting of the base should be finished now. Of course the base itself still needs a few final touches (I'm thinking about static grass and some details like wooden logs..? )
I hope to get on with the hall soon.

That's coming along very nicely indeed and once you've added those little touches to the base it should really come alive.

Looking nice.
I don't think static grass, this looks more fitting for clumps of grass dotted about, maybe some brown grass to resemble it dying away. I like the idea of some logs, a nice wood pile against a wall perhaps ?

Go all out with a few different details. Static grass alone will sell it short. Some army painter tufts would make it look great.

Tufts, maybe some small scrubby bushes and a slightly worn track with less grass and more packed mud and a tiny scatter of fine talus.
