Thanks, I'm glad you guys like it. Here are a few more pictures. There is a little bit of glare on the model, but the pictures are still accurate.

Enjoy!

Your freehand work is certainly developing. If anything the snake is a little too vivid. Use the background colour and mix it very very tin, then glaze over the whole banner, it will help the snake look part of the banner, at the moment it looks a little like its stuck on the front.

Looks fantastic POW - I quite like the vivid colours on the banner they make a really nice focal point on the model. Great work on the horse too mate.

Very nice job, the only thing I would say for myself is that I would have matched up the colour of the snake with the robes on the rider to help tie the piece together (and turquoise always seems to work well with the sandy colour you've used and pruple).

The biggest compliment that i can pay you is that I have never been interested in a Harad army, the figures don't resonate with me.

But i look at the way you have painted yours and think "I WANT that."

Beautiful job.

Thanks everyone  @Gandalf the Grey, thanks for the tip, I'll get to it.
@Crucuim Giger, at first I had painted the banner using the same colors as the rider, but I didn't like it. I'm most likely going to be incorporating more turquoise and purple in the future too, so I was thinking it would fit in better in a group.
@rumtap, thanks, they are really great miniatures, they have lots of variety and are lots of fun to paint.
Here is my entry for this month's challenge. I did a few things differently, but I had to rush parts of it due to lack of time.ImageImageImageImage

I based it with real dirt for the first time, and I used roots for the first time too. I also painted the grass which I haven't done successfully before. On the model itself, well, there's a lot of stuff. I painted some free hand designs, obviously, and some texture on the armor. I'm super happy with the face, especially the eyes. I also gave the end of the spear a bit of a green and purple tint to simulate poison on the weapon. It's kind of hard to see in the pictures though. The gems also turned out better than I thought, white gems are tough. I think the yellow could have been better, but I was having issues with it. Overall I think it turned out pretty good, I would have liked to smooth out and perfect the freehand, but I don't have time.
Comments and criticism welcome.

-PoW

This is wonderful, from the color choices to the execution of the painting, the experimental basing. Lovely work here!

Nice job mate. Yes, the yellow could do with more contrast, shame about that.
Not your best freehand but this is becoming a nice signature tune for you.
When I use roots, I apply a thin coat of green paint to help resemble moss, works very nicely and adds that extra bit of colour to the base. I've also use this to cover earth I have used.
Also look toward using compost, the type you buy at a garden centre. Get some and let it dry out before use, it provides interesting coverage that benefits some paint here and there.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks everyone! @Gandalf the Grey, thanks for the tips, I'll have to give the compost a try sometime.
Here is a quick update, a Minas Tirith horn blower. I really like the sculpt of this one. I thought about adding some color to the armor, but I really liked the way it turned out and it looks more like what I was trying to achieve. For the blood I mixed black with Blood for the Blood God which gave the black a red tint. I did this on accident actually, but after I thought about it, it made sense. Now it looks like orc blood mixed with human blood.ImageImageImageImageImage

More nice work but one pointer, the photo is really dark and I'm struggling to make everything out.

Yes I thought the same thing as Mally (although i thought it was my eyes at first) - the picture is very dark and does not do the paint job justice i don't think. I like what you've done with the armour, very clever painting and highlighting playing on the light. My advice would be to try and get a lighter picture so we can see the model in all its glory. Well done POW your painting has really moved up a few gears this year.

Marvellous work! Try taking photos against what is a neutral background - a medium toned colour like grey or a medium green are perfect. It means the camera is not battling with too much light or too little light in the background.

Thanks everyone, I'll try and get some better pictures up soon.
Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I've been busy with school. But I finished my first semester of college and am now on break, so I'm going to be doing a lot of painting in the next couple of weeks. I'm almost done with another rider of Rohan, and next I think I'll try and enter something in this months painting challenge.
I just got back from watching BOTFA and I really liked it. It's my favorite of the three, but I've really been disappointed by all of the miniatures GW has put out for the hobbit movies so far. There are a few good ones, but after watching all three movies, I saw so much potential for some amazing miniatures, especially in this last one, that GW didn't take advantage of.
