Can my Blackroot Vale Archers be painted Green for a Tournament?
They are the same model as the Rangers of Middle Earth.
How do you handle it locally? Have you seen/experienced this?

...just emailed the tournament organizers.
I will post their response when I get it.

You can paint your models however you like, I never follow the GW schemes, im not a fan of paint by numbers. But if youre using the same models to represent two different units you'll need to have something distinguish them

Yeah, I only plan on using the 4 BVA's and they have only bows.
No other ROMEs being used in the army list.

Dude its absolutely chill here. Not like some other tournaments.....

I asked if I could proxy 12 berserkers for ferals last year and they said as long as they are not both in the same army.

Pretty much, you can paint what you want. In Chicago its about the fun and gaming. This website and some of the people will really throw you off as to what is acceptable. A lot of people here make this hobby egregiously un fun.

You could paint your rangers all shades of pink and call them blackroot vale Britney spears fans when you send in the army list and as long as you and your opponent laugh and are adults.....which almost all are....youll be fine man.

There are good players, but its all fun.

That's quite a disturbing sight :-D

I think that customizing the models is as important as the gaming part is. It's fun and will make your models one of kind. I painted esterlings in black and silver, haradrims in sand-palette and even a couple of minas tirith fella with a blue shield and a white swan to proxy them as DA foot units. Then there's this captain whom I call "The winter soldier" (why before I even knew that such a name is Marvel-related), a Minas tirith soldier with another head, some fur around his neck, a pale silver armor and white instead of black.
My models are not perfect but, Hell, they're mine.

There would be no problem whatsoever with you painting your Rangers green in a GBHL tournament. As noted above, the important thing is clarity. I've never been to a tournament that has penalised people for colour schemes that were different/unique/unusual but that felt like they could have come from Middle Earth.

Pink Blackroot Vale Britney spears fans on the other hand...

Yeah I had a lot of drinks last night.

At least I did a good job driving home the point of acceptable paint scheme.

I suggest also coloring all of their hair bleach blonde.

Out of curiosity where were these other tournaments? Have people really been refused entry/penalised for their colour schemes?

No thats not what I meant....I started that post off referencing the relaxed nature of the tournament. Nobodys been turned down for color scheme, but I mean everything about the Tournament is relaxed.
In Chicagoland even with nearly 6 million people large tournaments are rare It takes a few months to fill 20 spots in the yearly adepticon tournament.

So because of that we play very relaxed games other than the occasional hiccup.

Id love to see some of you guys from the GBHL if you ever visit actually for a game. The tournaments always at the end of March it seems.
