Hi everybody, thought I'd create my own WIP topic, to keep me motivated and generate some feedback, which would be very welcome!

I thought I'd start by showing my working space:

Image

A paint station from Hobby Zone, loads of paints (mostly Vallejo, 20% is still GW though, I like their texture paints), loads of GW brushes, some clay shapers and some general tools. My white light bulb hovering over the area.

Now let's move on to some actual WIP. I've been in the hobby for almost two years, mostly buying, selling, collecting, trading ... but now I am attending my very first SBG tournament on March 14th in Antwerp (Belgium).

I need to put 750 points onto the table for this tournament. I may not get them finished, but I'll try my best!

I wanted to give myself a head start by choosing one of the forces I had already painted some models for. My "Dwellers in the Dark" list got some negative reactions on the army help forum, so I decided to attend the tournament with my Fiefdoms army.

Last days I have been preparing some models I wanted to use in my tournament list, cleaning them, glueing them, applying a black undercoat.

Then I decided on Regal Blue as a colour to tie all units together.

First, here's my Men-at-arms + Prince Imrahil + Dol Amroth Banner Bearer. They are all newly added models. Black undercoat + two layers of thinned Regal Blue. Nothing else.

Image

Just wanted to add I hate the Men-at-arms pikes. I have traded for some 2nd hand models, they arrived with broken pikes and ever since I have been struggling with them. I have never pinned models (afraid the pikes shafts are too small to pin), so I am using superglue + a little green stuff + loads of patience.

There's 10 men-at arms in the picture. 5 of them have never been broken, so they shoud survive the tournament. I am using 7 in my tournament list, so I'll prepare all 10 and hope I have 7 left to end all three rounds.

Here's my Swan Knights with a mounted Captain. I have used them in many practice games. They have been very helpfull, learning me how to use cavalry to the best effect.

They are not glued to the horses yet. I'll do so when they are ready :)

Here's my Axemen of Lossarnach with Forlong. They will all make an appearance on the tournament grounds. I love their tactical useability.

I will also use some archers. I have decided to bring along twelve Blackroot Vale Archers, led by Duinhir. I know they are a "weak" choice, but they are 100% fiefdoms, which I like.

I have 36 Rangers of Middle Earth. I selected 12 without spears as Blackroot Vale archers. The others will be 12x Grey Company Rangers of Arnor and 12 Rangers of Gondor. I do love the models!

I have spent quite some time basecoating and highlighting the grey capes. It's a shame it doesn't show on the pictures.

And a close up to show the Regal Blue tying them in with the rest of the army.

Now bring on those Fell Beasts / Mordor Troll Chieftains / Giant Eagles ...

Next up are the Foot Knights of Dol Amroth and their Captain, sporting some Regal Blue Capes.

I haven't added any of the shields. I'll glue them on when the models are ready ...

This unit will probably not make it to the tournament. But they were the very first models I painted for this game, so I'd like to show them anyway.

I forgot to take pictures from Angbor and his twelve Clansmen, but they're just glued and undercoated in Black, so nothing to see there. I won't play them at the tournament anyway.

---

And here's some of my "leftovers". I plan on painting them up eventuelly, but right now I have to prioritise my tournament army.

That is one very very fine collection you have there. They will be a sight to behold once all painted up and on the battlefield together.

Keep up with the WIP posts!

Keep it up Mats, you must have a great collection over there, with practice you'll manage to shape them into great forces, something to feel proud of one day.

Looking good Mats ! Can't wait to see them all painted up and based as a full group - that's a nice Blue to link them all together too....

And I'm thinking that Tournament deadline will keep you plenty inspired to keep cranking right along !
