Hopefully the right forum for this.

Looking at the last couple of months for sales on ebay show him selling for $40-$50 USD like what on earth.

He is a high want model in a set thats been long OOP.

In addition, he came in a set that wasnt exactly a hot seller. For example, you can find Uruk Hai, Goblins, and Orcs by the dozens for sometimes .50 cents a model, but if you look for Morannon Orcs, or Galadhrim, they generally cost a dollar or more.

The Guardians of the Shire box set has him and 6 Dunedain and none of that ever had a role in the movie, so its worth a bunch.

I sold that box about a year go to someone for $95 when I purchased it in a huge lot for basically a few dollars less for the whole lot.

Laws of supply and demand.

As for my personal take:
-I dont know his lore
-That which I learned about it, didnt interest me much
-His stats for the cost are garbage
-Ive never seen him used successfully in a game

Ill sell or trade mine every time I get one. I got one now I plan to sell in a week or two.

Hmm I still think its weird though. Kind of random for him tp be so expensive still. Its not the supply shortage that surprises me its the fact that there is a demand at all. Hes not that great.

Well.....Im sure if GW came out tomorrow with a cool looking model, or one terribly posed one from a character we didnt see people would still throw away their hard earned money like they have on some models recently.

A lot of people are in this game for the collecting aspect - they want one of everything. Gildor came out in (I think) 2006 and was OOP quite shortly thereafter, so newer collectors never even had a chance at him at retail. There are comparatively fewer of him than of many metal Heroes.

The Guardians of the Shire were not great models either, So buying a bosed set to get a single model was not in everyone's plan. I am glad I did get it (and the Golfimbul model too) at that time. I am not a everything collector, just a most of the cool stuff collector. Gildor is a fairly cool model and is a great proxy for a wood elf captain back when there were only the metal Wood elves and Haldir from FotR days (before the plastic wood elf kits) and probably still fit in with the plastic ones too (I never bought that plastic kit though).

I would guess the people that are driving the prices that high are collectors not gamers, so its the rarity and not the in-game effectiveness that is the main factor in his price.
