Hey guys, so I made a thread about this earlier but the problem has escalated a lot.

I tried using washes, Sepia and Agrax but it's not turned out very good. The gold has a 'red-ish' tint to it. I cannot seem to get a dulled gold colour.

I'm using a base of balthazar, highlights of Gehenna, followed by highlights of auric.

I even tried covering the armour in auric and then dulling the armour with washes. Weirdly enough, it came out in a very similar effect. Arguably worse, but still. I have not tried Nuln oil yet, but I'm very tempted.

Does anyone have any suggestions to hit a gold shade of this kind?

I think the problem your having is Ghenna gold which has a red tint.

Mix Gehenna gold with runefang steel about 2 parts gold to one part silver and paint your model. wash afterwards with your agrax. shoukd work fine.

I find that covering black with gold doesn't work so good, so I usually basecoat chocolate brown first. I also have used Vallejo paint, I like how the metal covers so smoothly and how it takes india ink washes. Remember you can use Lahman medium to make a wash out of any colour now, so you could try a brown or yellow-brown in this manner.

I prime black then make a 2:1 mix ghenna gold and runefang steel and paint straight over the black prime coat. When dry ink with Army Painter strong tone (basically the same as agrax) and then highlight using same 2:1 mix as previous, futher runefang steel can be added to the mix for successive highlight.

I used this method on these but highlighted them up too quite light with a lot of runefang added to the mix. LINK

Oh I've seen those before! Very impressive Spectre. Have to say those are probably the best Elves I've seen, and a lovely colour to boot. Makes me regret turning my high elves from gold to silver. (Wanted to make them fit the Hobbit appearance.)

Seems like a relatively simple process. 2:1 mix, then agrax, do you use a lot? Then 2:1 for highlight and then runefang to finish. I kind of regret buying Balthazar gold, but it is a pretty nice paint. I'm sure I can find another use for it.
