Hmmm, noble defence of your mate Kev. I will as always, continue to offer feedback to anyone that I can with a hope that we all improve.
Just a shame everybody can't see it.

On another front, no scenic base ? Those you do really are excellent and I was hoping for another from you.

I chose not to go with a scenic base this time as Elrond is going to be used by the client predominantly for gaming. I've been wanting to try painting a marble floor for a while with the idea of using it for a future project so took the opportunity to give it a go.

Seriously nothing to defend there - note the Aragorns speech reference. made me laugh lol.

@Dorth - thanks mate

Wahow! I just love the freehand. Stunning paintwork you got there. I still can't get used to it! It keeps impressing me.

So it begins....

The next large army commission is going to be Easterlings. Felt like i could have taken the clothing a stage further with these although the client requested that they be dark, both clothing and armour.

More gold lol! I must have upset someone to deserve this :-)

More pictures at Shadow & Flame

Also I was given a rather interesting gift recently. A custom made Invisible Gollum. Awesome gesture! Love it!
More pictures of Gollum in The Dead Marshes

I like the look of these figures! I'm working on a set of Easterlings for my own collection, and I'm aiming for a more subdued look like this. I find it looks more realistic than the brighter look used on a lot of the "offical" painted GW minis.

Very cool! I have one of the GW "invisible" Frodo figures and I always loved the idea of it.

Jealous over Gollum, that really is something else and a treasure to keep. Would you believe I recently found my invisible Frodo, it had come out the old old blister pack and when I picked it up the feet broke off ! Gutted.
Liking the darker gold, almost gives it a brass effect. I agree on the cloth but like you say it's what the customer wants.
Another interest is the red jewel

Craked paint from Vallejo?

Cracked bases are GW Agrellan Earth although quite a bit of prep work was needed to a) ge the stuff to crack to the size cracks I wanted and b) not flake off the base once it was on and dry.

2 layers of GW gloss varnish applied to base before Agrellan earth applied. Agrellan Earth applied VERY thickly and left to dry.

Once dry watered down PVA washed and then paint once dry.

Thanks guys :-)

@Mally - Yeh I will certainly treasure the piece.
The jewels in the shields are actually orange but it doesn't show up too well on the pics.

You can also use egg shells for a base surface like these. I think Kev would need to lay them himself to cover the amount he needs.
