I would like a very competitive list, but with a very strong theme for a 700pt tournament. I would love to get the new Elrond foot and mounted model if that helps anyone pick an army, as well as the new rivendell knights. It needs to be very good at dealing with anything I come against. I am willing to sacrifice the theme for a very good army.

Those High Elf cavalry are beautiful, but so pricey--and you will have to keep them far away from the Monsters you'll meet at this points level.
Get Lonely Knights Armybuilder at http://lonelyknight.0fees.net/ and come up with some ideas we can all help with -- you will likely get more response.

Do Elrond, if need be a Captain of Rivendell or lindir, and gandalf to cast blinding light and hold off monsters.

Today I played, To the death and reconnoitre.

I won both, reconnoitre with 12 points. I used Mounted Elrond with 12 Rivendell Knights and Thranduill King of the Woodland Realm and 5 Mirkwood Cavalry. I was under the points limit and beat Sauron with the ring, and a Mumak which was over 100points more. However, I did not like the mirkwood side.

What could I use instead? Theme would be quite nice.

Try using Lorien Then... of course you aint getting something as kin to Thranduil in Lothlorien lists but....can prove fruitfull in a way if you get some Galadhrim knights maybe...

Keep in mind youre using mirk cav, mirk cav aint that much special other than a light armoured guy with fight 5, C5 and elven blades that get a banner effect around Thranduil.

Alternative to that mirk cav and perhaps a strong combination although you lose numbers would be elrond´s sons armoured and mounted with bow.... they cna offer a nasty punch and plenty of might points.

I think the most themey competitive lists are Wood elves, old more so then Thranduil's halls, Harad, all Fellbeast, and Isengard.
