I'm having a lot of trouble with two different issues. I was wondering if people would like to share advices/guides with me to help me a bit.

My first trouble is white horses.
I always prime my (metal) models with black primer so the horses also begin with a black basecoat. Then after that I gave the horse a layer with Ulthuan Grey. After that (I might've [word deleted] up here) I added the GW brown ink (forgot the name) and noticed that it looked [word deleted]. So after that I added another layer of Ulthuan Grey; leaving a few areas untouched.
In the end I added a few highlights with Skull White.

The horse is 'OK', but definatelly not good compared to my brown/black/grey horses. I was wondering if people here have a better approach to painting white horses?

My 2nd issue is blonde hair.
I did the hair of Théoden with succes since it's a bit more yellowish. I've done this with a Brown Layer followed by a Mild Yellow layer, followed by brown ink, followed by yellow/bleached bone mixed and some highlights of bleached bone. So for Rohan I'm kinda 'OK' on doing the hair.
My big trouble comes with the elves like Legolas and Haldir.

How would you suggest doing their hair?

Greetings,

You might want to check out the first edition of SBG magazine which has an awesome tutorial that covers white horses AND blonde hair. You can download the .pdf by clicking here.

Also, I see you're new to the community, but please be careful with your language as it seems the swear filter picked up a couple of slips above. We try very hard to keep this forum family-friendly. Thanks!

Thanks a lot! That's an awesome magazine!

Do you maybe have more issues of that magazine I could look into?
It's a shame I didn't know about it, else I would've checked it out sooner for sure.

As for the language, I'll try to think about it more carefully! ;-)

Sure. Check out this thread to find out more about the magazine. There are only two issues so far, but I know that the third one is in production right now.
