Greetings!

Me and my fiancee recently decided to start with LOTR SBG. We are particularily fond of dwarves and we intend to be playing the War of the Rings era Erebor siege.

We started out by painting these easterlings, that will be the dwarves' opponents. My fiancee's miniature is her first painted ever. Mine is my first painted in 15 years.

I am quite happy about the results. I need to get some diffusion filters though for the lamps, as the real reflections are interfering with the painted reflections.

Comments are most welcome.

They look really good! I've painted many Easterlings over the last few years, so if you need any help just let me know!
Also, a quick photography tip, if you cover your mini with a white sheet of paper, the paper will work like a light diffuser. It's not perfect, but it works great in a pinch.
Good luck!

At last we finished our very first dwarves - a couple of grim hammers. I am very happy about the results. I think we managed to capture the dwarven colours. We are very inspired by The Lord of the Rings Online game. Erebor is all about blue and yellow there.

I notice that it is hard to take coherent pictures through the year and the changing seasons.

They look good! I am a fan of the blue and yellow color scheme, it works well with the silver. 8)

Thanks a lot for the comments!

We finished an easterling captain. It was the first time we ever worked with resin. The spear was bent, and we tried to heat it up to bend it back. We however underestimated the amount of heat needed to make the resin flexible. It broke instead. We managed to glue it back on but we made no further attempts to straighten the weapon.

We also made some updates to our easterling painting scheme;

Red;

Thinox Hide

Iron;

Nuln Oil
Leadbelcher
Ironbreaker
Runefang steel
Stormhost Silver
White Scar

Black;
Abaddon Black
Mechanicus Standard Grey
Dawnstone

Leather;
Abaddan Black
Rhinox Hide
Doombull Brown
Bugman's Glow

And, we also finished a third orc.

We are now working on some more dwarves and dale miniatures.
