I have never played Angmar in the previous editions but I own pretty much every model from the army list. Could some battle-hardened veteran give me a hint? I enjoy mid-level battles - so 500 to 700 points :) Thank you!

Never played, but tye sourcebooks can be found on scribd... They give good tips for army buildings. Some monsters for brutal power are a must, though.

I own the new army list book but would appreciate Angmar veterans opinion.

I've played against Angmar a lot in the past, here's some thoughts...

Shade is a must, although the new rules do nerf him a bit...
Barrow Wrights are sneaky good, Paralyze is a devastating spell
Burdhur is very good, but a regular cave troll is a good choice as well
adding in a Wraith - especially either Witch King or Dwimmerlaik - is always effective, albeit a bit less so with the new rules.
Other than that, the rest should be a whole bunch or orcs, shields in front, spears support, add in a Shaman for Fury if you can and a banner can be useful as well....

Hope this helps....

At 700, I'd bring the Witch King or Tainted on a fellbeast, a cave troll or Burdhur, a shade (the nerf wasn't that bad, seeing as they have 8 will), a bunch of orcs, a couple of spectres, and maybe a barrow wight and/or some warg riders.

At 500, I'd drop Burdhur, the fellbeast, or the shade, and however many orcs need to be dropped to get the list to 500.

The Witch King got better with the crown buff (It's cheaper and gives 1 re-roll on casting/resist rolls in addition to the extra attacks). The Dwimmerlaik was hit hard by the new rules. The Tainted got a huge buff, and is definitely worth considering now - not having the aura always active actually makes it better, because it doesn't stop your heroic moves when you need them anymore, and he got +1/2/1 m/w/f.

Angmar Shaman lost Fury. They have Wither and instill fear instead of fury and transfix. Wither is pretty good, so they're not all bad now, but a Barrow wight for paralyze is probably better.

Cave trolls got better with burly and 2h hammers. Wild wargs, warg chieftains, and warg riders are a bit better as well.
