Howdy y’all,

I am just starting to get into Middle earth SBG and wargaming in general. Played a little bit of WFB around the time they killed it off.

In DFW, TX. Looking forward to getting into this game and the hobby overall.

Welcome to the forum and the hobby Texan! The forum has gotten a b it slower in these past few years but there are many older threads for hobbing and what not that you might find interet to look through. Plus, there are people who can answer any questions you might have about painting, proxies, rules etc. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to post!

What sort of armies are you looking to play? Got your eye on anything in particular?

Thanks for the welcome, there seems to be a lot of good info.

I’m waiting for the last parts of my Minas Tirith army now. Some warriors, rangers, fountain guard, faramir, Hurin, and Ingold. Eventually will branch out and incorporate some swan knights with Imrahil

Welcome @jwright4288 to the One Ring

Click on the board index at the top left of the home page and you'll find a host of different sections to explore - WIPs (works in progress), Army Help, Rules Questions, etc.

One piece of advice that I would offer is to buy and build slowly. A very common occurrence for beginners is to have their eyes get bigger than their paint brush (or their wallet), and they buy WAY too much, too soon.

I'll use myself as an example.....I started about 6 years ago and I own just over 1100 models. But out of that group, only about 500 of those models are actually painted. Simple math will tell you that I have over 600 models sitting in boxes and blisters in my closet. Considering that I only manage to paint about 75 models per year, I won't need to buy anything for about 10 years ! So trust me...take your time. Build (and buy) slowly....

But all that said - welcome again and enjoy ! Ask questions - there's lots of great people on this site that can offer really helpful advice....

I'll echo a howdy from the North. Always great to have new players. I'll tout Battle Companies for new players, it's a really fun subsystem and affordable intro to MESBG.

I'm that other person who has metric tonnes of unpainted stuff. I got most of mine on sale and have room to store it, so I don't feel at all bad. Who needs a linen closet in Canada anyway; it's seldom warm enough to take the quilts off the bed. Really, that's not the whispers of unpainted legions subverting my consciousness....shhh closet.
