Stunning dwarf tombs. Those pillars look great, what are those?

I like how you made the trolls look so different from each other. The plastic kit surely offers a lot of variety. From what I can tell from these pictures the gondorian in the troll's hand looks very seemless. It looks like a very succesful conversion.

Excellent conversion on that troll! He looks very intimidating with a Gondorian in-hand! I like the Moria terrain even more. Those tombs look great. I hope to build Balin's Tomb one day and I don't know if I can match how nice those tombs already look unpainted. I hope to see more of your Moria terrain in the future as it is very inspiring! :)

Alhvar - unfortunately the mold that I made the pillars from is no longer available.

Alhvar/Kuribo - the gondorian in the troll's hand was very easy to do. One of the Gondor Archers fits right into the hand, just had to drop the right arm of the archer from releasing the arrow to draping over the troll's thumb (?). The rest of the archers arms and legs I just cut and trimmed and reattached so they looked like they were dangling down. The hardest part was trimming the quiver on the leg.

While placing my orc figures on my wall, just took this picture with my phone at one end without looking at what it was taking.

A little cropping and I got this - The Captain urging his men forward against the threat!

Orc photos to follow once they are all dry.

At first glance I thought it really was a screenshot from the films. So much movement in the picture! You can really see the fear in the eyes of the captain. You can imagine a troll has climed the wall.

That captain looks absolutely terrified, perfect for the frantic defense of his city. Love it!

The picture was really a random shot, I have tried to duplicate it to no avail.

First of what will be a horde of orcs.

Because of so many to paint, no eyes and no dry brushing. Easy base of glue and tea and some random wasteland tufts from Warlord Games.

Done to my usual "tabletop standard" - they look better looking down on them. :) Went with different colors for the clothes, nuin oil makes it all look dirty.

Some conversions done; swap some weapons, swap some heads, cut and turn the torso, add weapons from the old Wargames Factory (now available at Warlord Games) Orcs.

Image

Image - the orc on the far left I had added some glued down paper towel to the shield to give it texture. I was experimenting with it as at one point I was going to cover my tower that way.

Image - old warhammer banner

Image

Image

Image - on a piece of cardboard I had covered with the same tea.

Image

Not enough Orcs to storm the walls yet - need to paint more.

Good looking orc horde on the way to MT there.
Nifty conversions just to add some variety. Going to be some epic battles on the walls shortly. :)

Stew is spot on as always! This group of orcs looks fantastic and the group shots really show how nice they all look painted together. I am excited to see them square off against Gondor's finest on top of those walls you've been building lately! :)

Nice job with the conversions, they add just enough variety to the mix.

I agree with Stew! That is an epic picture and you should have plenty ready for any Gondor scenarios you play too.

He sank on one knee and presented the arrow to Theoden. 'Hail, Lord of the Rohirrim, friend of Gondor!' he said. 'Hirgon I am, errand-rider of Denethor, who bring you this token of war.

From the Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King, The Muster of Rohan.

The token was the Red Arrow, a way Gondor summoned its allies in time of need.

After delivering the Red Arrow to Theoden, Hirgon rode back towards Gondor, but was killed before he could tell Theoden that he had delivered his message.

In the booklet, The Best of White Dwarf Magazine, Return of the King, there is a scenario The Red Arrow which depicts Hirgon travelling through the Druadan Forest where he is met with six orcs with bows and two Warg Riders with bows. The scenario gives Hirgon a longbow (counts as a elven bow)

Edit, the scenario pdf can be found on this page:

https://www.dchobbitleague.com/scenarios.html

Conversion done with Rider of Rohan body, Warrior of Minas Tirith head, and arm with bow from a Warriors of the Last Alliance elf.

I like him, too. Go Hirgon go!

I love the fall birch trees. Who makes them and how durable are they?

GKA - trees are from http://www.grandcentralgems.com/scale-model-trees.cfm , bought several years ago at a train show, very durable. Kinda expensive, keep meaning to try and make my own.

Really a simple conversion to make, always nice to make a named character that GW hasn't made. The scenario is nice too, minimal figures, no magic, easily adaptable on size of table and how you want to play it.

I can only echo what has been said before. Great looking trees and a cool looking conversion. I had forgotten about this detail in the books so to see it come to life in your photos is really cool, Mapper! This thread is always full of inspiration :)
