Which Camera do you have?

I was looking here in the OR, some posts that show pictures of the minis that the uses have!
Some of the pictures are very good, but there are some that doesn't have any detail, you can't understard if that's a dwarf or an elf. Horrible!!

So I thought making this Post so that all the users can know which cameras do the useres with the nice photos have!

I made this post also because I'm thinking of have a camera that can really take some pictures of minis!! The one that I have is terrible!

I use a Canon 20D. It is the baby brother of the Canon SLR range.

Kodak 5.0 megapixel EasyShare DX4530.

Before this, I had a Kodak EasyShare 3.1 camera, and before I accidently knocked it to the floor and broke it, I was so impressed with it, that I decided to go for the same again, albeit with more Mega Pixels.

I do have a Nikon Coolpix 5700. (It's now 3 years old, far older than my painting hobby, and so large that everybody thinks it's an Digital SLR ;-)

I was concerned about pic/colour quality, less as possible distortion and a large (in this case 8x) zoom.

I liked the turnable display from my older Nikon Coolpix 990, and definetely wouldn't go without such anymore.

also: I want to stick to one memorycard and one battery/accu system, because those cost much as well and I don't want to invest in those again at any new camera.

but I think that most brands deliver comparable good quality. (in this forum you find URLs for camera reviews) more important is the way you handle the cam, it's settings, the mini, the background, the light, and the digipic in the imaging editing program later on.

I quite possible have the world's best camera in the 2 MP Fujifilm FinePix 2800Zoom. If you believe this is the world's best camera, I have some land to sell you too.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC H1

I love it.

It has a 12x optical zoom and many other nice features, which is great, because photographing miniatures is not the only thing I use it for. I like the size also, all the new tiny cameras are horrible.

i have an older nikon coolpix 3500 and a canon 300D.

i think have to get a macro lens though to improve the mini images ...

I use a Canon Powershot A95, which I bought as an all-around shooter. It even takes a few minutes of MPEG. The macro ability of the camera is excellent. All the pictures in my gallery were taken with it. It has a ton of features for the price and I am very pleased with it.

For the pics I posted in my Work In Progress threads, I used my old Sony Mavica, which can get amazingly close-up but very low resolution pictures. The Mavica's low resolution produces a small size picture file, which is good for quick downloads (that's why I use it for the "in Progress" stuff). Even though you can probably pick up a 1st or 2nd gen Mavica for a song, I can't recommend it. With max resolution at less than a meg, it doesn't do justice to finished detail work on miniatures and makes terrible prints.

I use an old 2 MegaPixel Nikon CoolPix 2100.
It takes reasonable close-up shots though, so I keep using it.
I'm actually dreading the day it packs up, because I love it so.

I use to have an HP 735 (or is it 375). An older 3.2 MP 3x optical/6x digital camera. It was a great one, too bad it was stolen from my car the day I moved to Modesto. I'm hoping to get a new camera in a month or so though, then I can get some NEW photos into my gallery.

If you're looking into a camera, just make sure you have a macro mode on it or it'll be hard to photograph minis.

Well - since I sort of started a lot of the discussion on cameras in another thread - it's about time I threw in my findings/decisions

Thank you all for the various advice - I actually found it quite helpful

I decided that I could not afford (or did not want to) a Digital SLR that was capable of utilising my extensive range of specialist lenses for my 35mm camera collection that I built up during the days when I "worked"

Following the various advice that I received here - I "borrowed" an oldish Olympus and even put a couple of "shots" in my Gallery (one is still there)

From that little experiment I chose to buy a Vivitar ViviCam6300 which was on "special" (probably end-of-model because things change SO quickly)

I have used this new toy to take a variety of photos that I can then compare to my (somewhat expensive) SLR film camera - I am happily deleting about 90% of all shots that I take in whatever situation but am somewhat amazed at the quality that these little "toys" produce

All I need to do now is learn how to use ALL of its various features AND the software to make the piccies suitable for the internet
