Having played with Azog and seen/read battle reports I would honestly say the best way to user him is to mount him then instantly dismount him so you get two heroes who can fight at full strength. Azog get's easily mobbed/shot at cos he is a big model when mounted, but on foot mobbing him is hard and there will be mroe stuff covering him from bowfire. Also for 50pts the white warg gets you 3 might and a ten inch move.
That sounds about right. The giant base doesnt sound too hot of an idea to use.

Well the plan is to sculpt it loose with a small slot in the fur, then sculpt Azog mounted but be able to detach him.
And then have Azog by foot too, neither of the Azogs will be amputees though I don't like the metal spike!
That sounds cool. I always wanted to see him with two arms especially from the beginning battle scene against Thror and stuff. If this game was more popular it would be a nice scene the battle of Azanulbizar with him two hands on his weapon swinging overhead with his chest all out looking orcy. Or maybe his feet planted and him swinging it parellel to the ground about to smash a shield.

Personally I'd say that at anything less than 800pts the warg is not worth it.
The way I see it, you call heroics with azog and use the warg's might to change dice or vice versa.
I don't see azog being that useful though. Too many points for an evil hero who is so low defence. Gilgalad eat's Azog
I think the idea is to support him with spears and keep his flanks guarded, funneling heros to him to he can win the fight, and then crush them with wounds. Clearly the best anti hero single foot figure in the game offensively speaking.
