it has to be the first because for a start there was no "oh mister frodo"
and even though there is a lack of big fights it is still a great film

Two Towers for me !

The Intro.... (Gandalf fighting the Balrog...what a start!),
Helms Deep (need I say more :-),
Ents ... (real Ents walking !),
Gollum for 1st time (not counting eyes in Moria),
King Theoden and his change (magic cinema ),
Edoras (Probably THE best on location set ever),
Warg Attack (Great action sequence),
Dead Marshes (spooky),
Faramir and Gollum at the forbidden pool (....so juicy sweeeeet),
Gimli and Legolas Comedy (...or do you want a box ?).
Last March of the Ents (magic),

That will do .. you see why TT is the best don't you ! :-)

the first for me, as the beggining was in the shire (who doesnt love the shire?) the middle was ace with all the moria action, and amon hen was the best battle in all of the films i think.

Mine was definately Fellowship. It was the introduction for me to lotr so I was captivated from that. The story was great and the scenes were amazing. Loved the balrog and the whole part in the shire

I luv them all but I like rotk most because of the sheer size of the whole thing. the music woz gr8 throughout the trilogy but the rotk had the two best ever musical bits in any film
Minas tirith
the lighting of the beacons
and all the rest of it

I love all the films though 8)

Yeah, I also think that rotk was the best.

You have the charge of the rohirrim, minas tirith, shelob, mount doom and all that cool stuff... :)

i like Scratch the warrior like rotk because there are good fight scenes like:
the battle of Pelennor fields: with the wicked mumakils and the army of the dead
and the Black Gate which has the cool troll Chieftain
8)

Difficult as I give them all 10/10. However:

FoTR followed by RoTK followed by TTT.

Fellowship had the biggest impact as I didn't know what to expect, and was totally and utterly blown away. The hairs on the back of my arms stood up when I first saw "The Lord of the Rings" logo on screen, and I sat in awe until the end of the film. It has the best emotional scenes with the fall of Gandalf at Khazud Dum, and the death of Boromir which displayed some of Sean Bean's and Viggo's best acting from the trilogy. No major character dies in the second book, so Haldir has to get the chop at Helms Deep for emotional impact, but it's not the same. Theoden gets it in RotK and this does have real emotion but you cant beat Boromir being pin-cushioned and fighting to the death for Merry and Pippin.

The terror of the Nazgul also comes across better in this film (Bree, Weathertop, Buckleberry Ferry) than at any point in the other two films.

The battle scenes are smaller in FoTR but are still great. However, RoTK Pellenor Fields is by far the best battle scene out of these (or any other) movie I have seen. The charge of the Rohirrim, is one of the most immense spectacles committed to celluloid. The Mumaks, the Mordor Trolls storming Minas Tirith, it's all good!

Anyway, who cares which is best, they all feature in my top ten films of all time. Enjoy them all!

I agree with the order Steve/Frazetta placed the films. It is a bad deal that PJ did not get to include the prolouge in the manner that he fimed it. I think that the Pellonor Fields battle sequence is up there in my favorite battle sequence, along with the movie Gettysburg and Zulu. With the advent of digital animation we can hopefully see even greater images in the future. I'd like to see something along the lines of Hannibal's attack on Rome, with the battle of Cannae done in the same style as Pellenor Field. Anyway, FOTR is the tops. I want to travel to NZ one day and take it in.

fotr cuz in my opinion it paid so much detail 2 everything big & small. it had the shire, rivendale, lothlorien, moria, isengard, misty mountains, weathertop, so many different sceneries. all beautiful. although it did leave out alot of charactors& scenes but thats ok. fotr is my vote.

tt mostly rohan

rotk mostly gondor
