okay heres my dilemma. i have a goblin army

Durburz
Shaman
14 Prowlers with bows
14 Warriors with shields
14 Warriors with spears
2 Cave trolls.

and my friend has an elven army

Gilgalad
Legolas
10 high elf archers
8 men of numenor
2 high elf spearmen with shield
6 high elf swordsmen

ive versed him once before, i was smashing the whole game until my force got broken, and then i got smashed. Ive changed my army now so it has a shaman, but could anyone give me tips on how to avoid elven archers and kill Gilgalad or any other help on defeating his army.

Thanks

His army's not really LOME legal. If you have allied troops, they must be led by a hero. So the Numenorians need a captain.

But it sounds like you've done what you needed to. Swarming with Shaman and you won't break. Just keep your Shaman alive :)

Against elves.

Outnumber and when it is one and one maybe shield. Watch out for heroes, try and swarm him/her. The prowlers, make sure you charge to make full use of the throwing weapons and hopefully you will make some kills.

I would tell him his army is LoME illegal. So he will have to re think it and it will probably be worse. Your list is LoME legal

(By the way LoME = Legions of middle earth)

i would keep your troops (especially the cave trolls) away from gil-galad. remember he is VERY unlikely to fail a courage test, more likely to win a fight and with a +1 to dice rolls when wounding, he is likely to cut through your troops like a scythe through wheat. your best bet would be to concentrate on attacking him with your heroes. outnumber him. make sure to tell him that his list is LoME illegal, as he will have an unfair advantage when playing against you.

Legolas will most likely be used to pick off your Shaman and Durburz, so you should make it a priority with your Archers to shoot and kill Legolas.

Gil-Galad should be taken out in Combat, most ideally while being trapped by at least 1 Troll and some goblins with spear support.

Evey fight you are in you should strive to have atleast double the warriors then he has in it, if not Shield, as said goblins could be very usefull somewhere else.

And ALWAYS keep Durburz near your Shaman, with Fury he has an automatic 12" Stand Fast.

Well, aside from the usual point that Elves should be beaten with a stick in their sleep,...
I don't have my books in front of me, but offhand it looks like his army is way more points than yours. That alone indicates that the match is unballanced in your friend's favor.
You might want to add something to your gobbo force - especially something that can be dedicated against Gil-galad or Legolas.

you could use some bat swarms, they are perfect when dealing with high fight values.

Is it a battle til the last man? (Well last elf or goblin.)

If not then just warrior waste on GG.

What I would say is maybe you could get a nazgul to defeat me Galad. sap his will, then transfix him. Easy. Then get a captain on him.

So:

The nazgul:

The shadow lord (Have you seen his special rule!)

Moria:

Durburz
14 Goblins with shields
14 Goblins with spears
14 Prowlers with bows
Cave troll

Tactics: Get cave troll, durburz and prowlers in range of shadowlord, then waste GG's will, then transfix him, send Durburz and lots of prowlers as well as a cave troll and all (Except troll) backed by spear support. Then the backstabber rule with 2 attacks and also a troll and might just in case. Get gobbos on the elves, do the same for legolas as well.

if you dont have the shadowlord as SDJ suggested, consider bat swarms, which work wonders against anything with higher fight, especially if you can use them with prowlers to trap heroes

Forgot about Bat swarms.

To defeat GG, a wraith and a troll, they will also help against other units, like other elves. And legolas.

So, your Cave troll with have a higher fight value if he is transfixed he will also find it easy to win. Also your troll gets wounded on a so do transfix. But the troll wounds on a 5 against GG, so 1 wound per turn theoretically.
