Brent, something that small I do in one session, but anything larger than that I would do in batches. I paint the surface of the piece using Raw Umber (graveyard earth) acrylic paint, and then apply a layer of Woodland Scenics flock to it (sort of like a grassy 'base coat"). Then once that's dry, I coat it with PVA glue and whip out my THING!

i just drop pva glue and the GW stuff

Excellent work as always Alan. See you couldn't resist the urge to add 'greenery'. Think I will hold off for the moment.

Hobby is slow for me, too tired from work, but have been doing little bits and pieces when I can on the front entrance.

Got the last 2 roof supports done and added 2 wooden panels under the right and left sides (still need painting properly), painted the other wood sections how I want them. Done the brickwork around the windows (not happy, but aint gonna try again). Added the door, wanted it open to see inside...anyway, here it is so far...

Another outstanding entry (pun intended!). Its great to see you both tackling this and trying to use slightly different techniques.

I'd love to see a picture with a Bilbo mini just in front of the door.

The colouring and detail on this is lovely to behold Brian. A triumph.

I look back on the front door panel I made back at the beginning and think, "I really need to start it again." It must be contagious

I might do the windows again I think, but the panel itself still looks ok.

I laid out all the panels I've done so far and was surprised to see how big this model is going to be. I still need to do a back door and a couple of small windows, so when it's finished it's going to be just under a meter long (3 feet).

Yes, but don't take it for granite.

You have a week and a half to catch up Brian. I'm going off on a fishing trip this Sunday and will be leaving my hobby gear untouched for a whole week.

I'll have the laptop with me though, so I'll be online and might probably get some bug fixes done for the site while I have some spare time.

And I will probably take a break from wall panels when I get back and work on some exterior features instead (a well or a garden shed maybe).

I was hoping you would miss those 2 items, dont know why as you are obviously using the the Bag End plan you sent me ages ago on MSN

No chance of catching up, I am doing 'very' small amounts each morning when I get in from work, inbetween catching up on OR, I am re-doing the window to the tight on the entrance as we speak first one the window was too big and too high). Plus the fact this time of year at work is taking its toll on me, wagon after wagon and no staff.

Anyway, enjoy the trip...it must be nice to take time off this time of year :x , now back to the window !
