Brian and Alan, guys, your dedication, determination and attention to detail is astounding.

This is a great thread, and the WIP shots are spectacular.

Can't wait to see both these projects completed.

wow, thanks Brian!

Its a little tricky as you cant use the 'sticky' side to attach them as it gives a bad result, so you need to superglue them down from the front, whilst trying to stop them sticking to your fingers as you put them into place.

You didn't youtube this by any chance? :P

Ah, interesting choice of materials Brian. I've not seen that stuff before - well done. The lattice I use is actually photo-etched, but has become impossible to find here nowadays and I'm using up my last sheet for Bag End (I'll have enough though, so I won't panic).

So, you've decided not to follow the movie designs Brian? These panels are superb, of course, yet they seem to be quite different to the movie set. Or am I just getting a bit confused?

Alan, you can find the 'custom card kit' at any of the big scrapbooking shops..if not, they can order it in for you.
(I can't type the word 'scrap' on TP..it thinks I'm swearing and edits it out with ****)

I have an update coming soon Kris, don't worry. I am working on the back door at the moment and it's quite a bit more complex than the front door (which is a bit strange).

Will post something soon, even if it's just a WIP.

I am 'very' slow...sorry
Work has gone from Chaotic Christmas to 'zero' overtime, staff on holiday, no cover = too exhausted.

The 3rd piece is almost completed, just needs the last highlight and detail of the wood sections done and have already 'just' started on redoing the study windows.
I'll try to have something to show at the end of the weekend.

Apart from adding creeping vines etc to this piece and others, this piece is practically done, however I am considering adding a little more woodwork to it.

No time, but onward redoing the Parlour Window.

Looks fantastic Brian!
Just a pitty that the fine framework isn't the same pattern in each of the lower windows... if you know what I mean...
But still awesome job! 8)

Good timing Brian, I was just about to do an update myself.

Your window is looking very fine indeed! Will you be covering some of the brickwork with flaking plaster? That would be a superb finishing touch to it.

My update is still a WIP - so no finished and painted panel I'm afraid. This is the back door, from a drawing by John Howe and re-interpreted by me:

Superb work!

Since you're putting so much time into building these exact replicas, you should create some scenarios taking place at Bag End so that you can use it in gaming!

I don't think I'll ever be able to make terrain work that good.
Next to that, my Barad-dur gate looks like a spray-painted shoebox - which it's not.

I agree Brian, well that this is wonderfull..
I don't agree with you saying you won't make that piece... I think you should really give it a go, cause that's what makes this thread so wonderfull. Two top-craftsmen working on a similiar project.

I love that entrance, the portal is so nice, can't with to see it finished!!

Tell you what, I'll paint a hobbit to the winner of this (which means you will have to have some kind of vote), I'll pour my soul into that little fella, 18 hour paintjob or so.

Commencing motivating process!
