Are you adding the big spikes onto the bottom of the ramp that you see in the movie? The ones that come crashing down showering the defenders in rock bits and making the tower immovable? :D 8)

There will be spikes - it's getting the armour to fit both when the ramp is up and when dropped that is proving a tad irritating. But we shall oversome! Resistance is futile!
There are other bits of armour to be added but the beast is shaping up quite well.

I have Grond
Well, the Thomarillion version - http://www.thomarillion.de/index.php?se ... 9f03666663
Alright, it's a bit small, well, short, to be accurate, but this is the only one on the market at the moment.

An update on progress: I have added the base portions of most of the armour. There is more to come at the top and on the front of the tower, and then there will be layering of smaller individual pieces on top of those you can see at present.
I have also added the spiked beans either side of the ramp - there will be armour on the underside of the ramp.
I have included a small section of the First Wall for comparison.

Sorry about the slow progress but I am no even getting an hour of hobby time most days at the moment

The armour is going on: lots and lots of small pieces of card, layered with an overlap a bit like roof tiles or slates.

Roll on painting...

That looks great, Dorth. How long have you spent on that project? :?

It's looking really good. 8)
The amount of detail is amazing and as I said before you've obviously put a lot of thought into this project, which is why it's looking so great.

I have been very busy for over a week now - almost nothing done on the tower, though it is a lot further along than that last picture. I tried to get on the site a few days ago and could not make any postings... even after about 5 login attempts :(

Hopefully back in business by Sunday... no promises though - I have a very long 'to do' list outside the hobby at present.

A little update - and yes, the tower is lying on its back. The thing about all those armour scales/sheets is, you need to let one line dry somewhat before applying the layer that overlaps it. And no, I have not been counting them.

Still more to do before the blessed painting sequence starts...

Almost finished the build - there are a couple of things to add to the top of the tower - I have not settled on exactly how I am going to execute these but for the sake of accuracy they have to be there.

So here is the latest WIP.

Painting time is coming... soon!
