Wow....that's quite an extensive project for someone new to making terrain. I don't know how you would use styrofoam to make that, however here's my suggestion:
For the shingled roof you would need to start off with thick carboard or something, cut thin carboard in the shape of the shingles and glue them on one-by one.
Balsa wood for the fence-thing around the little yard attached to the building.
Balsa wood for the wooden structuring on the roof
Circular pieces of slate or other rock for the stepping stones leading to the door.

Good luck on your project! 8)

Well, for the curved roof, you should cut a piece of Styrofoam to that arc-like shape, then cut out small pieces of thin card (from cereal boxes) and glue them on. Then you could get some Balsa Wood and make those pieces of wood that they have put on top of the roof.

You could make the walls of the baracks with some Balsa or Foamcard, then make the fences out of Balsa. 8)

Hope it helps

This is my suggestion:

-Roof: Cardboard, bent and curved, followed by cereal box card for the shingles
-Walls: Cardboard or Foamcard, detailed as necessary

The rest is easy to improvise... sorry if I'm not of much help, I'm in a bit of a hurry. :P
