1 tin of chaos black, sum glue and 1 brush all set me back £25!!! i get suckerd into the shiny packaging, even tho i know £1.50 super glue is good enough just like tamiya liquid poly is, only shop i went into with no sale yet people still in buyin hundreds of ££s worth of stuff today, its shocking!!!

*coughcoughGWaddictcoughcough*

GW is in no way obliged to do sales... stores that do are just trying to get more customers, and as GW has no real competition...

...but so why are you even buying the stuff from GW, if you know you can get it cheaper elsewhere? Only you can resolve your addiction to GW :P

GW used to do sales - back in the late '80's and into the early '90's there were good deals (that's how I ended up with so much epic 40K stuff) but that all dried up. They just do not understand that people like me will spend £100 if the value is ok but will go £120-125 if the value is great. and if the value is rubbish, I spend £0. I am not an addict. That Backlog is the result of bargains bargain bargains elsewhere (I probably paid about 55% of GW's RRP on most of it).

I feel your pain, and I live in Canada.

The Canadian dollar has been floating pretty damn close to the US dollar value for the last few years. However, Canadian prices have gone up relative to US GW prices consistently. And that's before federal and provincial taxes.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper just to order from maelstromgames.co.uk. Free shipping and it arrives maybe a day later than a GW delivery. Too bad they won't ship spray-cans, figure cases and realm of battle gameboards :)

But really, look online. You can get very good deals of someone selling their kid's terribly painted metal figures. Shove them in some Simple Green for a week and voila. Almost as good a new.

Just always keep an eye on the shipping costs.

GW doesn't need to have sales because their product does not follow trends. Although, you could argue that each new army is a new trend, gebnerally, this will result in sales for other armies anyway, as players tech their forces to deal with the new threat.

Plus, nothing goes out of fashion. It is merely withdrawn from the stores, made more expensive and re-released as a collectors model.

Games Workshop has a 365 day a year sale called 'ebay' 8)
I only started LOTR armies about 2 months ago, I already have about 6000+ (maybe a lot more) points worth of figures for about 250 quid!, they would have cost me more like 700 pounds if I had bought it all 'in store'
I spent enough money in GW in the first 30 years of my life to justify not feeling at all guilty about this! :-D
Now to get round to painting all the bloody things

GW does not do sales because they never need to get rid of stock like other shops do. There may be the odd set that gets replaced by a newer version but thats it. GW is thriving the way it is and they don't need sales.

I feel your pain when you say how you get robbed. They sell some of their products like they are the only ones on earth when I have found similar or the same products for far cheaper elsewhere.

feel doubly robbed at the fact im not a gamer, so when i go into one of the big hobby centre things and the only gandalf at minas tirith they have is on foot AND mounted, thats no good, i only want the £6 fella on foot, now i gotta go and order it online.

they take advantage of the fact that most people into GW products are stupid and rich enough to buy their stuff at inflated prices, like the little darling i saw the other day who was brand new to the game and bought £450 worth of stuff in one go!!!!!!!

Stuff like that drives me mad. I got a little cousin who buys new sets whilst leaving his previous sets barely finished, neglected and broken.

as nice as most of the staff at GW are, it must seriously push their morals, they know this lad is doing what weve all done, you know fantasy purchases,
hell ive filled up the basket online many a time, but to let him keep buying and buying, knowing hes new and is getint way too much to start with, so much hel probably just jack it in cause hes not up tio WD standards after a weekend, they must really question it sumtimes,
