Hey everyone, I'm buying the Muster of Rohan box that's been sitting on my local GW's shelves for a few weeks now, and I'll also be buying the new Eomer. Problem is, I don't know how to use Rohan. Here are the contents of the Muster of Rohan and Eomer boxes.

Eomer
Rohan Captain
3 Royal Guard Mounted
3 Royal Guard on Foor
12 Riders of Rohan
36 Warriors of Rohan

So the other LOTR player at the store has agreed to match whatever this adds up to points-wise, and we'll play a big game. So, how should I play this force? Just so you all know, I've never played a cavalry force before.

Welcome to the OR eDylan. With this force, you would probalby be best of by sending your infantry slightly to one side and move the cavalry to the other. Than wheel your infantry in order to force your opponent to wheel the same way. Than charge him in the back with your cavalry.

It is basicly a hammer and anvil tactic with a little description of how to make it slightly more effective.

With your infantry, you should try to use a Heroic Move to make sure you get the best out of your throwing spears.

Also, it's a good idea to use Éomer's Might to keep your cavalry charging.

If your cavalry is delayed by a portion of your enemy's army, I would strongly advise using shielding for your infantry in order to preserve your anvil which is a vital part of the hammer and anvil tactic.

Note that I have never played with Rohan myself, so don't take my words for good fish.

Sounds great. I'll try it. The other guy is using Dwarves if there's anything else need mentioning.

Good tactics advice.

Long ago when the internet was young, people used "then" when they meant "than". Now it seems people are using "than" when they mean "then", I'm seeing this all over, kind of funny.

Dwarves should be a challenge. I haven't had much, or any, experience with rohan but from my experience playing as dwarves the best thing to use against them are spears, which you lack. Your cavalry are going to be key so making sure you keep the initiative is very important, see if you can get another mounted hero in there as well just to make sure you don't run out of might. What I have found to be very effective, against me, is to keep the cavalry just out of their charging distance. When you loose priority charge, this way you can keep from being swarmed and can pick them off a few at a time. Then make sure you get the next priority and charge the next bunch of dwarves while your infantry pick off the dwarves already on the ground. Trust me it works :-X.

I'd recommend him, Erkenbrand is pretty good.

Erkenbrand is good. I remember him beating off an Isengard troll and 6 Uruk-hai scouts in a battle once! :-D

Some one is taking up Gaarew's sarcasm in his absence, methinks.
