Very interesting Karvag, how succesful was that army?

I've been fiddling with my Dwarf army a little, here's the latest version:

Gimli
Dwarf Warrior with Banner
4 Iron Guard
8 Dwarf Warriors with shield
8 Dwarf Warriors with two-handed weapon
4 Dwarf Warriors with shortbow
4 Dwarf Rangers with Dwarf longbow

Are you also involved in the school league tournament then Karvag? We're going to Nottingham for the finals in July (yay!).

Here's my army (well, my original)

Erestor
16 high elves with shields
5 high elves with shield and spear
10 high elves with elf bows

I'm considering swapping the high elf spear men's shields and Erestor for Gildor but I don't know whether this is a good idea or not.

Why does nobody tell me these things. (Rolls eyes at my local GW staff)

I really wanted to play it this year but I got too caught up in studying for my exams, playing a little 40k and painting my Dragon. Recently I have sat some of my exams (only one more left and it's 10 days away :-D) so this would have been a fun break from official examinations. And some real compitition would have beeen nice, I've gotten bored of beating everyone at my local GW, with only 24 of my Goblins, Durburz and a Captain.

Those lists look pretty strong, so good luck everyone.

When is the Final? Oh, and What is the points, 700?

P.S. Sorry about the small vent, I'm a bit fed up now since my little bro is no longer interested in LotR SBG, the only decent competiton I've had for the last couple of months.

The National Final, in Warhammer World (which we're going to :D ), is on the 30th of June.

The points total is 400, but there's lots of other restrictions as well.

Is their restrictions against using a Dragon? I can field a Moria force with a captain and 2 goblins for 50 pts and have an allied fully upgrade dragon to make my 400 pts. 3 model minimum accounted for with and a massive monster which can kill droves of enemies. (LoME restrictions upheld). Or I can field a partialy upgraded dragon with 12 goblins and a captain.

You can't take a Dragon, for several reasons. Here are the restrictions:

1) Armies can have no more than 400 points worth of models following all the rules for army selection in Legions of Middle Earth.

2) Each force must consist of at least eight models, and cannot include more than forty-five models.

3) Each force must have a Hero, if your Hero is a named character you may only have the single Hero. You may not take another Hero in your force.

4) If you do not take a named Hero you may take up to two Heroes. Neither of these may be named.

5) No more than 150 points may be spent on any Hero.

6) No more than a third (33%) of each forces models may be armed with bows or crossbows.

7) Evil Forces cannot include Gollum or Grima Wormtongue.

8) Good Forces cannot include Tom Bombadil or Goldberry.

9) Heroes such as Galadriel, that have special rules related to a specific location always count as "beyond the borders of their realm" if used.

10) Whenever a rule is repeated in several publications use The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game rules (The One Ring edition).

Okay I see.

Still I could field 42 goblin warriors, 2 captains and my Troll in 400 point army. The Swarm and Smash Tactics. hehehe.

It's actually quite effective. Everyone always seems to shoot at the big scary Troll, neatly forgeting about the 12 goblin archers, the swordsmen and the spearmen led by a couple of Goblin Heroes. It never seems to be the Troll which kills the enemy heroes it ends up being the 6-12 goblins surrounding them led by a Goblin captain.

As that armies only 370pts, I'd swap a Goblin for a Bat Swarm.

I don't know whether or not a regular Ringwraith counts as a named Hero. I once asked one of the staff at a GW store, he thought they don't count as named Heroes but he wasn't sure.

I'd probably do the same come to think of it...

I don't normaly play 400 point armies, I normaly play 500 or 700 point game so I use bat swarms, 4 Giant Spiders, wargs and a warg chieften as allies to my Goblins.

that sounds a big army, but i have never considered having a moria

army cos the goblins are only 2 fight, my school (i am

the captain of the team) got into the final cos there was no one there to beat us :-D :D

but i still think we would have won the regionals (my team has two high elf armies, a easterling army and my uruk-hai army)

here is my new one, please comment:

1x uruk-hai captain with heavy armour and shild

8x warriors with crossbow

10x warrior with shild

9x warrior with pike

4x berserkers

comes to 398 pts
...............................................

i was wondering if i should have a balista, what do u think ???

We only had to play against one other team to get to the finals, we beat them but it ended up with both teams going to the final. :)

There's not much difference between those two Uruk-hai lists Karvag, so I don't know which one to recommend. I definetly wouldn't take a Ballista, it costs too many points and Uruk-hai already cost a lot.

Uruk-hai Raiders do have slightly better Heroes, such as Lurtz and Ugluk, but I'd still take the Legions of the White Hand as they higher defence, spears/pikes, and crossbows.
