Is the Easterling Dragon Knight's defense a misprint? It seems like it should be 1 point higher.

Human heroes usually have a base defense of 4, then he gets +2 for wearing heavy armor, and +1 "pip" for his parrying ability. Seems like that should add up to 7.

Just curious.

Do the rules say he gets a pip for parrying? If not, the no it should be 6.

at least in the pdf that GW recently released, it mentions that he gets a "pip" in defense to represent his parrying ability.

well this is what it says for his wargear

"A Dragon Knight wields an array of swords (hand weapon). He wears heavy armour, and his parrying skill affords an extra 'pip' of Defence included in his profile above."

The word "included" means that the profile is as it should be, even if it seems somewhat low.

Well yeah, that's exactly why I was stumped. You would think that the extra defense was included, but according to any existing conventions his defense is too low. Just wondering if there were any words of wisdom here, or if the WD profile differed at all.

He is still worth the points though, but is the parrying skill only in combat?

Hmm, interesting point. I'd say he's about worth it (compare him to a captain of Minas Tirith, and make adjustments as necessary - he comes out about the same). I feel like his special rules almost balance out, although shielding with 3 attacks is really good.

The pdf doesn't specify melee only, but I think I'll probably just houserule the +1 defense to count in melee only, and leave him at D6 for shooting.

Thanks for the replies, folks!

No problem! Here it is:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... omican.jsp

At the bottom of the page, there are articles categorized into four lists. Go to the fourth list (bordered in gold, "White Dwarf") and click the article "The Lord of the Rings: In Sauron's Sinister Service"

"The Lord of the Rings: The Galadhrim Host" is also relatively new (if you don't already have the WD with those profiles...)
