Hey all,
I am getting into sculpting more, and I want to get some of those great rubber-tiped paintbrush-like clay shaper thingies. I have heard that they are really good for smoothing putty. I would also like to get a cheap set of stainless steel sculpting tools, I don't need that many, probably just one pointy pick one, one flat one, and one 'spooned' one.

So, does anybody know a supplier that stocks the tools?
I am in Canada so the suplier being based in Canada, or with low shiping to Canada would be nice.

I just bought mine on ebay. They come in bigger sets but they are so cheap that its not a big deal. As for the clay shapers, ebay also has some, but you can also check your closest craft store. Hope this helps.

IMO thoes rubber ones would be waaaayyyy too big.

it may seem like a lot, and you'll prob end up with just one or 2 faves but you really need to use them all to figure out what sort of shapes you'll use most and what you dont like.

Metal is just as good for smoothing things out as you'll have spoon shapes and rounded shapes. The key to smoothing out is using plenty of water

@ Manofkent, I am planning on getting some of the metal type as well, I was just under the impression the the rubber ones were better for smoothing/cloak/cloth work.

Well you'll need the metal tools to work the putty/clay long long before you'll have use for anything else.

The rubber tools are more for big sculptures. when your working on 28mm figures they wouldnt be any good. Metal ones will smooth fine.
if you end up with small cracks that you just cant get rid of. water down some clay or PVA glue and wash it in to the crack.

what sort of clay/putty are you useing?
Milliput and green stuff are good, but super sculpy is much much easier to work with.

Actually it's not way to late.
I went to camp for the last bunch of weeks, and I am now back. So I never actually found any shapers. I will probably get some once I have the cash.

If it's just a couple you want initially then I recommend the flat and the taper.

yeah, extra-firm taper and flat are the two i use way more than the others put together.
