Well, my Buhrdur's been bundled back to GW so they can replace him but depending on how long it takes them to send a new one I don't think I'll be able to make it this month, may have to hold off till next months challenge

Here's my Buhrdûr, finished:

I took some other pics with him and his troll friends and orc and warg troops, but they'll have to wait until I get my real Internet connection back. Not going to post all those through mobile phone as modem... :(

Hi guys, I'm afraid I won't be finished in time, school was just to busy these weeks so I didn't had a lot of time to paint, I'll hopefully join a challenge in the future when things are not that busy anymore, I wish you all the best of lock and may the best troll win!! :D

Kind regards,
Jorn.

Nice job Pasi. This was a fun mini to paint. Nothing inspiring here. Colours copied from the front cover of the Arnor book. More pics in my WIP thread: http://www.one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=12790&start=260

Very cool all of them although I like Valpas his burdhur the most 8)

Bucklandbrewer not that I'm painting beter or can ever do that but I think the quality is less then your other paintjobs I had seen. Had it something to do with the lack of time?

Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish my Buhrdur in time. I was gonna do it monday afternoon but I have a bad fever so I couldn't complete it.
I only had a tiny bit more to do.

I really like yours Valpas. You got really nice transitions on the different highlights, and I like the colour selection. I also like bucky's, though the lighting in the picture looks a little 'dark/red'. :x

Freddy, your sword and basing is really good. I don't like the high contrast between the different leather colours though. The stark white of the arm wrappings to that red cloth to the orange stuff, and brown all in there somehow kills it for me. It looks like you used a devlan mud wash on the arm wrappings which I personally don't like, that contrast just doesn't quite sit well with me.
Hopefully I don't sound too negative, overall you did a good job, I just personally don't like the colours. :)
Good job everyone.

Excellent work here by everyone, I'm pretty tempted to add this model to my collection now.

Anyone think he would look out of place on the Pelennor Fields?

Thanks for your honesty. I can't agree more, he turned out to something I didn't mean to.
Lack of time... dunno, I guess I had a lack of sense to painting last few weeks. I was kinda living with the "I still have time to do it later"-syndrome.
I always loved this figure, great sculpt I think. I always looked forward to finally paint it, but as soon as I started, I never got the right feeling and touch with the figure. It became more like a burden to get it finished instead of a pleasure to paint...
I had also cut a slice of skin off my finger two weeks ago while peeling carrots, my knife slipped... just on the spot my brush rests on while painting. I blamed and used that for not painting, which was a weak excuse to myself.
Thanks for your words, this will encourage me to do better when I know I can! :)

Sorry, I fail to take decent photo's under my daylight bulb (especially bigger ones such as this one), usually I take advantage of the real sunlight outside, covered by a thin layer of clouds... but there was no time now, nor any sun left (hate these dark days). Might take better pics some day soon... but don't expect it to look any better, lol.

Interesting you say the sword is good. I feel that its the worst part and I struggle with large flat metallic areas. Just a wash and drybrush which is more evident in this pic:

I did indeed use Devlan Mud on the arm wrappings, after initially using Gryphon Sypia but the result was too yellow.
As for the colors, I can honestly say I didn't use any red white or orange. Kommando Khaki, Snakebite Leather, Dark Flesh, and Bestial Brown were the four basic colors I used on all the cloth. I wonder if the color settings are up too high on your monitor? :? I really liked the colors of Buhrdur in the GW catalog, and I'm happy I got close enough to it for my liking. I appreciate it isn't everyones cup of tea though.
A bit dissapointing there are only 3 entries. Normally 3rd place would be a good result, lol. but I don't mind conceding to these other two top notch entries chaps. :yay:

Well you've all given me a hard time choosing, but I'll always take three excellent entries as preferable to 8 middling entries. I look forward now to the March challenge!
