Am New to SBG and LOTR in general and decided to get Galadhrim on top of my evil Isengard. I've come up with 4 ifferent 700pt lists and I hope that you like them.

I like the flavour of the third list. If you changed all the Galadhrim bowmen to wood elves with bows, you'd save enough to either give almost all of them spears too, or take another Guard.

The first list appeals most to me, and the fourth least.

Is it an improvement on those lists?

A few changes I would make. Swap the galadhrim archers out for wood elf archers as D3 isn't going to make a difference to evil archery. It could be risky, but you could try swapping out Rumil for Cirdan as the war aspect and aura of dismay could work well if you're in a pickle. IDK if GotGC are worth it. I've never played them but it seems F6 pikes with only D5 and 12 points is slightly pointless. I might swap them out for 4 wood elves w throwing daggers. Other than that, it looks pretty solid. But it may struggle to counter lots of evil competitive stuff like SL and SQ and a shade could devastate your line.

I agree on your points and a way to neutralise shadow lord and other named ringwraiths would be to add in Floi Stonehand. Despite his fun special ability he is also a decent combat hero. Alongside him I could add some Iron guard to get some Iron hard(geddit?) combat elite.Also I know that GotGC seem a bit of a strange concept but they could be a great way to neutralise dwarf and Uruk heroes.

the knights are already overpriced units, and you have on hero to lead them, so i would strongly suggest dropping them, also, why do you have galadrim w/ shields AND spears? if they have spears they should be in teh back row, but then the shields are usless, so make them wood elves.
you have throwing daggers -good
you could either get more throwing daggers in the front line or get some khazards as front line
your low on numbers, so make the iron guard khazard guard (much needed D7)

since if you do all this you would have shaved of quite a lot of points for stuff that would have been mostly usless, with those extra points i would suggest maxing on elven bows, and getting some throwing daggers or khazards

The reason why he has galadhrim with shields and spears is that you can swap elven blades for spears for free and there's no point with the elven blades when you have shields. I would just replace the knights with iron guard myself. Keep them behind your ranks and then send them out on the flanks at the right time.

The spears replace elven blades for flexibility and the Galadhrim knights are in there for a strong counter punch and also because I need an extremely mobile element in the force. If my opponent decides to sit back and volley fire then I will need an aggresive unit that can easily reach the enym in the minimum amount of time. Also with The Galadhrim knights 12 inch move they should almost never be charged. Personally I don't think that Khazad guard will serve me better than Iron guard with one less atack and no throwing weapons. The Iron guard are my flankers while my Gladhrim knights are my archer hunters.

Shadowswarm I must agree with you that throwing wepons would be really useful but putting them in would mean sacrificing either my Gladhrim knights or my Iron guard neither of which I am wlling to get rid of. Although I might exchange 1 Galadhrim knight for another Iron Guard and 2 more throwing wepons for my wood elves.

Im still STRONGLY against the knights, cause sure you'll get the first charge, but afterwards they will die, your opponent will call a heroic...
they are also TERRIBLE archer hunters cause they will just get shot if their charging the archers, and even if they work thats ALOT of points worth of stuff just to stop a few shots. you already have galadrial so dont bother hunting archers

you could get 8or 9 extra warriors for your battle line which will REALLY help since your elves....

Shadowswarm I have to agree with you that Galadhrim Knights are overpirced and with regars to the archer hunter role I was just rying to make up a reason for their inclusion as I love their models and the idea of elven cavalry .
So here is a newly revised list.

There you go. With 3 more models than previously and more shields, I think this list still is reasonably themed and will definitely hold its oown against most other lists. Constructive critism still needed.

Looks good . One note, why not give all the galadhrim spears as they can get them for free and elven blades are no different to hand weapons when you have shields.

Yep, all your galadhrim with shields should have spears. Also, I think you have one too many bowmen.



@Shadowswarm -- you need the latest galadhrim rules (check the GW WD archives), they start with an elven blade and can swap to spears for free...IOW you can't save any points by dropping the blades and not taking spears.

Thanks for pointing out the slight over enthusiasm with the bows, just edited the list. Had to replace two wood elves with wood elf spear with two normal wood elves.

On tactics, I thought maybe having a Galadhrim centre two models deep with Iron Guard on the right led by Floi Stonehand. On the right have the throwing weapon wood elves and two basic wood elves backed up by wood elves with wood elf spear. Place Galadriel in the centre so the highest amount of people possible can benefit from Blinding light and then place the wood elf archers at the back.
Any advice welcomed, please comment.
