As promised here is my evil list for the upcoming tourny. This will be my first evil list ever so i'm taking some fun models that i bought to paint, and i'm kinda lost so any help will be appreciated.

Gothmog - 145pts.
Warg

Orc Captain - 45pts.
-Shield

20x Morannons - 160pts.
-Shield

20x Orc Warriors - 120pts.
-Spear

10x Warg Riders -130pts.
-Bows

Mordor Troll - 100pts.

Total: 700pts. 10 Shots, 5might, 53 models.

I have a feeling this one would get owned by your previous list, which outnumbers, out shoots, out fights, and out mights this one. Not sure the troll is worth it at 700 points, you could do with a lot more numbers, and/or better troops.

Trackers on wargs would be an improvement, have the same odds of being wounded by arrows, they shoot better and hit just as hard, though they do die easier in combat. I'd replace the troll with a drummer and some mordor uruk hai, so you have a few elites with which to beat average troops, or tie elites. The drummer helps mitigate good side bow fire. And you might want to give Gothmog a shield, it cuts the odds of taking a lucky S2 arrow wound in half, and he's too expensive to die that way.

You should really have a wraith and more numbers at this points' level. I would drop the troll and the warg riders to get a budget wraith on horse and some orc trackers on warg. Also, with the budget wraith in, you won't need the captain (you might if you want morranon orcs, I can't remember if they're in the minas morgul list). That would be better.

I'm afraid this is not a very strong list. 40 infantry troops is rather low for a Mordor army of 700 points. I like the warg contingent, true trackers are better, but not necessary. Remember in addition to shooting your warg riders can jump lone stragglers in hand to hand combat. Threats like this can help keep your opponent in check. The troll I'm afraid will most likely meet an untimely death. You have too few Mordor orcs. The lowly orc is the most important factor in any Mordor army. The orc is the shield against enemy archery, the bulwark that holds off the enemies heroes, and the helping hand that insures your heroes win their fights. Without enough orcs a Mordor army can't succeed. (I know I've posted this in another thread, but all Mordor generals need know this. ) You don't have a banner or shaman. Either one of these will really improve the performance of your orcs. A drummer would do the same.

I suggest getting ride of the Mordor Troll and the Morannon orcs in favor of more orcs, Mordor Uruk-hai and a banner. For the same amount of points you can get get 7 Moror Uruk-hai and 7 with 2-handed weapon for a total of 14 Mordor Uruk-hai at 119pts. And you can get 16 Mordor orcs with shield or spear and 1 with a banner for 126 points. This gives you a model count of 50 plus banner. Now you have 15pts left to upgrade the orc captain to Shagrat (55pts) and this leaves you 5pts for Gothmog's shield. In this list Gothmog represents your allies.

Just curious--why do you prefer regular orcs over Morannons? Sure they're great for spear support, but in my opinion the 2 points spent for extra strength and defense are well worth it. Having D6 effectively halves the number of casualties against most (S3) good armies.

Good question and I don't want to highjack Werner's thread here, but will 10 Morannon orcs wipe out 10 dwarves or elves? If not then why would I want them? They are more expensive than mordor orcs but not mean enough to smash up the enemy. I'd rather pin the enemy down with a mass or Mordor ocrs and pummel them with meaner troops like Uruk-hai or Black Numenorians.
