Hello there i am new to the game and the forum... I have one question, i have a galadhrim army and i use 8 galadhrim warriors with an elven blade and NO shield. I know that i can choose to fight as one or two handed weapon. My question is can a warrior with a spear support my warrior when he is using the elven blade as two handed weapon ? I mean i carge with my Blade equiped warrior an enemy model and i place the spearmant behind him. If i choose to fight as one handed the spear supports him. But what if i choose to fight as two handed ??? And also... Can a spear support a bowman if he is engaged in Battle ? Thank you for helping !!!

Hi, welcome, hope you enjoy the game!

No, you can't give spear support to someone using a 2H weapon, elf blades included.
Yes, you can give spear support to a bowman. When the bowman is in the fight he's assumed to be using his hand weapon.

I don't end up using a lot of blades. They are handy for accompanying a hero...hero wins the fight and they do the chopping. So my ratios are usually something like: 12 shield + spear, 4 blades, 8 bows.

That means that if i have a model with a spear supporting a model with an elven blade and i want it to support my front man i MUST use the elven blade as one handed weapon.

whafrog has a nice ratio there for Galadrhim. I do something similar with my Wood Elf army but have my Elf Blades at a slightly higher ratio (different strengths/weaknesses for the two types of Elf armies though and we obviously will have different play styles).

Elf Blades in SBG do a lot to make up for the average Strength of the models and the slowly increasing average Defense of your enemy and I think it's good to have a few such models in every force, with the actual number based on your totals. If you are in a 1:1 fight then swing 1H. If you find that you have a numeric advantage ( 2 Elves vs. 1 Enemy ) then have one swing 2H and the other 1H (roll separate or use colored dice).

I've tried using more blades and going 2H in a 2:1 situation...it's probably just my luck, but it seems like the blade holder always rolls the higher dice, and then loses the fight :)

 I'd say I have the same experience except it's been pointed out to me that there's no such thing as bad luck with dice.
